Hi polishbunny
I'll tell you a thing or two about the country:
Polish guys are cute. People are mostly catholic and some also speak english, tramways and buses are used for transportation. There are many privately owned little stores everywhere and big stores like Tesco are like a Walmart in USA, gaining popularity. Cashiers at the check-out are sitting, as well as in the Polish Post Office.
The toilets look different, you have to pay for using one in public and the toilet paper is very rough. The hot water (red) is on the right, the cold (blue) is on the left.(Most places anyway)
They don't serve you ice-cold water in a restaurant as soon as you sit down, but the food is delicious and elegantly prepared. Very good bread and pastry. Many flower shops. When you buy a flower, they don't just give you a plain ol flower, they add this to it, then that and then decorate it and it looks very elegant.
Most popular breed of dogs is the Long-Coat German Shepherd, Dachshund and I've seen many Staffordshire Bull Terriers lately. I've also seen Poodles, Golden Retrievers and Beagles hanging around. And of course others like the Boxer, Schnauzer, Ratler, PON, Briard, Griffon, Schipperke, Szpic, Borzoi, Weimarner, St. Bernard etc.
Cars can be parked on either side of the road, you can park on the sidewalk over the curb and you have to make sure it's locked because things get stolen. Heck, sometimes the whole car gets stolen!!They change tires for the winter in Poland. Gas(petrol) is more expensive. They use the metric system so everything is in kilometers and liters.
They have bazars or markets where you can practically buy anything. Fresh vegetables during the season, lots of clothes. Polish people like to dress up and have a huge selection.
When you travel, they don't have that many hotels as in the US, but they have private guest homes where you can stay. They don't have rest areas and some gas stations don't have bathrooms. I've seen people stop by the road and go into the woods. If you have to go, you have to go...
Many, many old castles and churches. Lots to see. Very interesting history and museums.
When people greet, they kiss each other on the cheek.
I'll stop for now and let you absorb all this.
