Hi,

I would like to do request a big personal favour, that is, anyone who is travelling to New Delhi, India from Poland (specific Bialystok or Warsaw) from the month of August (as June and July, i will not be available but travel). The traveller can be Polish, non - Polish as long as they are from either Warsaw and Bialystok,Poland but that will visit New Delhi, India. I would like to get my package from there, it will not be much weight. Let me announce it upfront that i am also sending it by post/cargo but would like to get other few things by personal hand-to-hand other than the post.

If anyone kind enough to give me a hand on this, i will be very glad. Will do a favour once reached India :-), how about a dinner from me, or any other?

Please anyone who is coming, please PM me, we can discuss further.

best regards,
123z

Sweetheart, the chances of anyone being as daft as that (i.e. taking a package belonging to someone else on an airplane) are as good as zero. And so they should be. This sort of "kindness" in the past, has ended people up in jail on drug trafficking charges or even blown up at 40.000 feet.

For your information: it is even illegal to take something with you on board that belongs to someone else.

So I suggest you already plan for a different way to get your package, cause I am sure there won't be anyone on PF who will do you the favour.

Hi Stu,

Thank you for your info. Yes, i do know about such thing.

They can check my belongings themselves before they bring it to their home for packing, and see for themselves what it is. Package doesnt mean it will be packed, anyone who is ready to bring can see and look what it is, it is personal items. Infact I am simply asking a favour that's it, not a request or a demand.

One more thing, i think you are not correct about illegal to carry other people belongings, cos even last year March, i have a friend who brought me my belongings from Warsaw to here.

regards,
123z

You can legally carry someone else's belongings, but you take full responsibility for them (duties, illegal items, etc).

If I understand correctly, you don't trust a courier, but you trust an anonymous person off a forum?

Convex,
Yes, i trust an anonymous person from a forum. :-)

Its is unlikely there is duties for such small personal items, also to say it again my stuffs are no illegal items.

Not with the carrier I use. If I book my ticket online and check the checkbox "Yes, I carry luggage for someone else", they don't let me continue with my booking.

Airline policy not allowing it doesn't make it illegal. It's a money saving move :) Apparently it saves questioning and a bag search...

Nail on the head. Anyone doing that risks serious possible jail time.

"Madam" go find Your suckers somewhere else, this offer of Yours smells worse than the Ganges in summertime.

Cut the bull****.

I haven't called You any names, if I did so - please quote them.

Frankly speaking, Your "offer", "favour request", whatever, sounds like something that can land someone in prison for a very long time ( just the other day I read about a book written by a Pole who ended up in a Thai jail for quite a few years due to some similiar **** ), so don't be surprised with the reaction You got here.

You can legally carry someone else's belongings - I have personally seen a person with a valid ticket being turned away from check-in after she confirmed she took someone else's luggage with them and did not pack it personally. It was a trans-atlantic flight, don't recall the airline.

Edit2: 123, sir, madam, whoever You are - plz don't pm me any further, I will not change my point of view.

This is what i will call names.

Okay, you read a book written by some unlucky Pole, cheated by some bad Thai, but that does not mean you can paint ALL PEOPLE in the SAME BRUSH.

Plus, i do not ask you to change your view.

123z ... I really suggest you call UPS or TNT or who ever.

I wouldn't even carry someone's jeans in my luggage on an airplane. If I don't know the person that is, of course. There have been cases where for example heroin is washed INTO a jeans. The person who is carrying the thing doesn't notice, but some sweet, cute little cuddly dog on the airport does. It starts scratching its paws on the suitcase and the one whose name is on it, gets a rather nasty interrogation in a small office on the airport by some people who don't seem too happy with the person in question.

Well, that's only the beginning. We can all imagine the outcome.

Hi Stu,

I understand your point and precaution etc.

I am also doing a cargo/post also, but like i said earlier, there are few things also i would like hand-to-hand exchange.

I am in India currently, so a friend of mine will take care it there, to whovever is coming from there, my friend is Polish. There is no illegal thing involve (i can say it many times but that will not make much sense, which is normal and well, ofcourse you have the right to not to trust me).

You can call me naive or whatever, i still believe in goodness/kindness of people whatever you may call it, that is also one reason i post here on open forum.

regards,

By the way, from whatever you mentioned here. Is heroine or Cocaine popular in Poland ? Just curious. Polular enough and lets say to even send to other country?...

Not particularly, but airlines do ask the question "Did you pack the luggage yourself" as soon as you check in - it's even the first question they ask and people are right to be very careful.

Check out UPS, the parcel service or EMS Pocztex - they aren't too expensive.

No need

Not to mention that certain organizations that routinely move drugs across the borders will often throw in what can be called a "red herring" on the day another, bigger shipment is moving through. They'll set some poor ******* up for the fall, so the authorities are busy with dealing with him and look the other way.

Dunno about heroin, but cocaine is rather popular in certain circles in Warsaw. A far cry from London town though.

That's fair enough, it's definitely cheaper...but there are no good people here...

What are you trying to courier? Documents? Photos? Some sort of heirloom?

Honestly, if he/she finds someone dumb enough to fall for it despite what we wrote here it will be karma and natural selection if that person gets "butt focked", sold into white slavery, arrested or drowned in the rose-smelling Ganges <grin>

How about this, pay to have the photos scanned. Then you'll have the backup, and it will give you a piece of mind when you send it by post. I did the same with my photos a long time back.

Those photos are not in sofware, its in album.

By the way, my post heading is edited by moderator, which is a bit unappropriate. My previous post heading was "I need a big favour from someone who travel from Warsaw or Bialystok, Poland to New Delhi, India to carry some of my stuffs".

That's what I mean. Just have them scanned and then ship it over. It's not very expensive.

I just edited it. Try to make the subject very clear to avoid confusion. Having someone "carry some of your stuffs" sounds a bit... peculiar. Asking someone to transport photos that you'd rather not have lost in the mail sounds a bit more legit.
