An American slagging off the humble hotdog?

Hot Dogs are/were crap. Pig leftovers tails, ears, god knows what. Beef franks are far more popular nowadays, like these Kosher ones. http://www.hebrewnational.com/products/hot-dog-beef-franks.jsp

There are some good fish varieties safe to eat daily, though, like salmon.
