Dear collegues!!!We need your help!!!There are very terrible actions in Saint-Petersbourg,Russia.The authorities adopted an order to kill homeless pets. They pay 800 rubles for one.People from other cities come to look and to participate.I ask you to send a letter to our President with the request to stop this agression and to panish the mastermind Miss Matvienko. The site of our president is on Internet.

You're too kind to talk to such racist s*hit, for whom if the news is from the Polish media, it's suspicious, but if it's from the BBC, it's fine.

That would be because the Polish media has a long history of publishing complete nonsense and has no history of impartiality, whereas the BBC is a worldwide respected institution, known for its impartiality.

Sorry, that should be "respected by all but the ones who believe in conspiracy theories involving evil liberals". The BBC is actually held up as an example of a service which operates mostly without governmental interference - whereas TVP for example can be seen as the exact opposite.

The fact that the BBC is almost routinely slammed by both left and right wingers suggests that they're doing a rather good job of impartiality.

The last bit of "impartiality " on the BBC I saw was on MasterMind, the questions for 3 of the 4 contestents on their specialist subjects were the usual tough ones, only a real expert could hope to get them right, while for the Local Govt worker(what else lol) her Topic of the life of M K Ghandi was laughable,if youd seen the dickie attenbourgh film a few years ago ,once, and read nothing about Ghandi you could still have answered 90% of the questions.
Or lets look at its impartiality over Israel,im no fan of a lot of the things israel has done but even I see the bias in BBC reports.

I don't know if it's 90/95% but you're right. The situation is better with radio (Echo of Moscow) and some liberal newspapers than with TV.

Once I wrote the same thing to a Russian journalist who lives in Poland and he wrote to me about something that journalists in BBC have to sign, I don't remember what it was, something about criticising the queen or the government? Or something else... Have you heard about something like that? He was a bit of a demagogue, so I don't know if it's true ;)

I'm not really following the story, so I have a question: is euthenizing them with an injection the goal here? Or having them all adopted... or for pet lovers all over the world to send money so a large pet heaven can be established in St. Pete?

I've asked about this one Russian guy who lives in Sankt Petersburg and he wrote that he had heard that the city administration will asign 800 000 rubles for sterilization of dogs. He doesn't know anything about what Regina2010 wrote.

I hope BBC did not report the "clubbing in the streets" story.

Incidently, if not BBC, where do you turn to international news?

primitive fvcks.

I guess there arnt dogwardens and pounds in the US? Do all dogs get rehomed in the US? I know most dogs here taken in by the RSPCA end up getting the needle.

It is with the BBC,maybe its the idea of the mass market? I find BBC world service is often giving a different slant to the same story that may be covered on BBC TV news.
Id say the BBCs biggest problem is not partiality or impartiality but a kind of self censorship. A better not offend X or Y as they are "special cases" sort of mentality, perfectly demonstrated when news readers mention foreign place names,if its somewhere with a darker skinned majority the news reader will make every effort to pronounce the name the local "correct" way, Mumbi(bombay) or Dhili(Dehli) ,Kolkota (calcuta),but I have never yet heard a BBC news reader say,"and over to john in Paree/Warsawa/Moscva "etc etc.
