Dear All,

Would you be so kind to assist me in the flowing questions or direct to the sources were answers are available.

I am writing a thesis on comparing social policy in Ukraine and Poland, it is pretty difficult to find information on Poland

How the poverty are measured according to national legislation?
What is the minimum income to be eligible for the social benefits?
What benefits a family with children can get from the state?
Are there any benefits in food supplying?

I am really grateful for your help.
If there extra information you have to share, you can also find me in Skype Tetiana2010

Some useful sites: http://www.heritage.org/index/ranking

http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=wb-wdi&met=ny_gdp_pcap_cd&idim=cou ntry:AUS&dl=en&hl=en&q=gdp+per+capita

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/

http://www.worldbank.org/

As a starting point and a helpful hint, I would make the observation that during the time of collapse of communism the two countries differed very little in terms of living standards, GDP per Capita etc.

Here's my input with my vast and extensive knowledge and experience with both Poland and Ukraine:

No, but seriously, hague1cmaeron probably provided the best sources.
Another trick is to go to Wikipedia, look up articles (for instance: The Economy of Ukraine), and then look at the sources that are cited. Usually, there are pretty respectable and reliable sources, which can be used for writing a paper.

I have serfed before the cites of Worldbank and CIA, but for the Heritage. This one is awesome. Thank you, hague1cmaeron and Polishmeknob.

Maybe there will be links to the legislation like Family act in Poland or something. Are there any benefits for the transportation. For e.g. in Ukraine students have 50% reduction on Railway transport and reductions on publick transport. Also the pensioners and people with special needs as well.
How does it work in PL?
