This way, NO pole would ever commit such crimes again in Holland, in fear of what awaits.

I dunno, Dariusz. Maybe ... but in the US they have the death penalty for murder 1 and still people are running around there with guns and knives killing eachother. I mean, if even the death penalty is no deterrent, what is? In principle I agree, except when the penalty for a crime is less then in another country. I might be wrong, but rape in PL doesn't carry a very high sentence, does it? Or at least the courts don't give such high sentences. And the other way round; suppose someone is arrested in PL in the possession of a small amount of cannabis, send back to the Netherlands and released immediately. Don't you think there would be an outcry in PL?

It is a very difficult subject and I am undecided about it. On the one hand I see your point, on the other hand I see some problems. Another example. You say that PL-prisons are hard, Dutch are cushy. I am in WRO, I beat someone to death. I am arrested, and sentenced. Suppose I was sentenced to 10 years and in the Netherlands there is a lower sentence for that crime And I would be extradited to our "cushy" jail. Wouldn't that cause an outcry as well?

It is difficult, but I see your point.

death penalty

Well, the problem with the death penalty in my opinion is that if you kill somebody and you know you're gonna get capital punishment anyway when they catch you, what's gonna stop you of killing yet another person? Or kill a person that is threatening to get you in the hands of the police? However, I do agree that death penalty will make many of the potential murderers think twice, but once the damage is done and a person is dead, the change is much bigger that more innocent ppl will die just because of that death penalty. Therefore I am not so much in favour of the death penalty as well as imprisonment for indeed the rest of your life or at least 30 years. I think that's a much bigger penalty as 30 years is one hell of a long time, let alone that you know that you will never get out of prison alive. I think that's a much worse penalty than the death penalty.

Death isn´t a punishment. The death penalty is useless.

Just lock the bastards in some prison under the sea and feed them with scargot.

...that's why Attica was such a great idea. The waters there are shark-infested and sharks eat ppl, so nobody would try and swim away.

M-G, do you mean you are NOT in favour of locking up for life? Or do you mean to say you are. I think, looking at murder stats in America, I can only come to the conclusion that the death penalty does NOT deter people from murdering. But that's just my opinion.

Stu, this is what I said:

So I think it's pretty clear that I am in favour of lifelong imprisonment.
