Oh, but it is freezing cold!
My sister adopted a girl from Tomsk, and it was sooo cold that you had to stay in the hotel as much as possible because you stick your nose out and you freeze your snots and eyeballs right away. Everyone wore long, leather, fur covered coats to keep them warm. The windows were so covered with frost that you couldn't see anything. And the children were dressed up like little pingwins.

Well what can i tell you about Siberia,
It is a huge part of Russia, but unfortunately not many people live there.

It is cold. When it is wintertime, the tempereture might be -40 C. Very fresh)
But believe me, it is much better than -20 with wind)

But the summer is extremely hot, like in the south. Sometimes +35)

My city - Tomsk,
It remindes me Poznan (where i stay now), it is a student town as well, it is quite old. It is 405 years old. The atmosphere there is unique, i miss it)

Also there are some bigger cities like Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk etc. But Tomsk is different. Novosibirsk for example remindes me Moskow, but Tomsk is different.

As for polish people sent to Tomsk many years ago i know that they keep traditions and their polish nature there)) So i think it is very good)

Unfortunately i haven`t met any polish people in Tomsk, but i hope when i go back i will try finding some)

BTW, i have found a site regarding polish people and culture in Tomsk)
http://dom-polski.tpu.ru/polski/main.htm

Also in Tomsk you can find a lot of germans. I have many friends, who have parents or grandparents german.

So we live in piece and quiet with polish and germans.

And also i would like to say that in internet or press (doesn`t matter polish, russian, german) you can read that russians hate polish or germans. No, this is not true.
Believe me, we do not have any reasons to hate these nations. This is just stupid politics, but smart people never behave themselfs according to politics.

I am searching for my family roots in Siberia. My grand grandparents were exiled to Usolje-Sibirskoje from Poland after the Polish Rebellion of 1863. My grandmother was born in Usolje. I would really like to know which place in Poland they came from. Do you know something about Poles exiled to Siberia? Thank you!

I fully agree.
I never imagined been through such a hot weather as last summer in NCK.
And of course no air conditioned anywhere.
Even though it was really worth.

Ow I can hear a murmur of discontent rippling through the ranks of PF’ers, people turning furtively to each other, whispering, “It’s the JEWS…” ;)

Different in what way? I'm just curious as you are in a very unique position to make some interesting observations.

Great post by the way:)

That's pretty cruel indeed, at first imprisoned in one of the Soviet Union gulags (as a part of the Russian-Polish friendship of course) where thousands if not millions died back then and now being called Polonia.
Sorry, it sounds like a bad joke.
