The English are among the few folks that Germans appreciate.I would say they appreciate just the English, the Scandinavans and maybe the French as equals.Even for americans they don't have a high opinion.

So what places England on a higher standing than Spain, Scotland or Italy then, KP? The Germans view the French as equals, LOL. Never in a million years, KP.

Well in Paris they don't behave with the same arrogance as in Poland.

You don't know the Germans. The Germans have no respect for southerners because they regard them as weak and faggots with a tendency to laziness. In fact they are afraid their rights will be abolished when they travel south and they laugh how easily southerners can be intimidated.
Some of Berlusconi's accusations about behaviour of german tourists in Italy were not without substance and merely approved by italian folks.
I don't know if Germans make distinction between England and Scottland these are more distinctions regarding yourselves in the island the outside world doesn't know what being a Welsh means.

It was just my experience based on observations, BB. I don't know how many Germans are but I'd like to think that the people were much nicer than what your leaders did in the Balkans. That was tragic!

Nun ja....I don't think so....so we have to agree to disagree...but of course "what our leaders did in the Balkans" has extreme consequences to the German tourist in Gleiwitz! *nods*

Germans never forget. They take revenge in the place they got defeated. That's why they named their victory in 1914 victory in the battle of Tannenberg and that is why Hitler signed the surrender of France in exactly the same railway vagon in the same station where German army had surrendered in 1918.

depends where u ask in germany. KP is right about the brits , french and americans in the period of the berlin wall (in berlin)

wherever there was a brit/US military base in germany the attitude of the locals was different to those in other areas. and the locals certainly saw the american and brits differently.

KP, they don't behave with the same arrogance in Paris? ROTFL. Best stop commenting now on this point. German involvement in Kosovo puzzles me. What business do they have being there?

Monkey business. When Yuogoslavia was dissolved each force wanted a portion.Germany got Croatia and Slovenia, then USA-GB wanted Bosnia and Kosovo. So by a coordination US helped Germany secure its interests in Croatia and Germany helps US in Kosovo since it is part of a bigger policy and Balkans is the model the pilot where they experiment.
US wants a weak Serbia isolated from allies in Russia and Germany also wants a weakened Serbia which cannot threaten Croatia.Kosovo case extremely weakens Serbia and provokes Russia as part of a strategic encirclement of Russia in order to acquire the russian energy sources which are secured by the presence of russian army and nuclear weapons thus unaccessible at the moment. They pinch the beast here and there and see how it reacts.(not that Germany does not leak some of the movements to their new russian friends etc it is a game).
The new thing is in my opinion the US presence because Germans have been traditionally in Balkans.
