I'm Italian, but I must admit I hate to say that. I consider myself European but not Italian at all....I just don't fit here. I don't like Italian culture and the country and people in general, even though it's my native country. I'm from Northern Italy, and yeah I have been to Southern Italy and it's really ****** down there......most of people are quite rude and ignorant in general, but I met some really nice and intelligent people too, so, don't get me wrong, I'm just talking about most of people, I know there are exceptions everywhere and I'm glad. I'm one of those exceptions. Most of Italians think they're superior and that their nation, food, culture, etc. is the best in the world, which is very bad, but others, like me, actually hate their own country with all their heart. And believe me, many Italians hate their nation and want to move as soon as possible. I'm sorry about the girl in Catanzaro and sorry about all the mistreated foreigners here in Italy. There are tons of stereotypes here about Poles and Eastern Europeans in general (Poland is still considered Eastern here, but whatever). Many Italians, especially in the south, think that Eastern girls are sluts and they only try to get sex from them. They also have the stereotypical idea that those girls only want people's money. I know there are many foreign women marrying Italians just to get their money, but not every of them is like that. There are many nice Poles here, and, after all, there are bad and good people everywhere, nationality doesn't play any role for that.
Don't know what else to say......I don't watch TV much so I don't really know much about what the media say, but well, Italian TV is very ******, and it's becoming less and less interesting day after day. Culture is slowly dying, to leave space to stupid reality shows such as Grande Fratello (Big Brother) and all the **** related to it (programs talking about other programs, talking about stupid love stories we shouldn't care about)......I must say that Romanians are the most hated here, just because most of them are criminals - well, it is true, but I'm sure Romania has got thousands of nice people. Immigrants may be bad and may be good, but nationality, as I already said, doesn't play any role. It doesn't matter. There are thousands of bad Italian immigrants too, I'm sure.
Racism is a sad reality in Italy, and too much hate is being spread. It's a very "close-minded country" in my opinion.
