Mister H, I meant Brussels only to a point but people much higher than that. I think you know who I mean. There's someone higher than Brussels ? I thought that after EU bureaucrats, it would have been God Himself......having said that I'm not sure even the Almighty can reverse anything the EU decide to do ;-)

As for affecting salaries and jobs - they do work most brits wouldn't get out of bed for.
They will empty bins, they will clean houses, look after kids, they will work hard. That is such a tired stereotype. Yes, some British people are lazy, but many (in fact most) are not.
The fact is, is that the UK is a very expensive place to live and wages do not keep pace with the rising cost of living. If you have a mortgage, a family and bills to pay it is not easy to live off the minimum wage. If you come here from another country and don't have such massive outgoings it is a lot easier to manage on slave-labour wages.
If wages were higher or the cost of living was lower then job vacancies being taken by foreigners would not be neccessary. I'm not too proud to clean a toilet...and I have done!
It's not always a case of being too lazy to take a low paid job, it is more likely that it just doesn't pay enough to live.
