British working communities in Poland

Hi,

- sorry in advance for the slightly spammy message -

I'm a British Journalist writing a feature on British skilled workers migrating to Poland to live and work.

I was hoping to find out basic information about the British working community in Poland, from both Brits and Poles on the forum (if any of you would be kind enough to answer a few questions, that is.)

- Is the British ex-pat community a noticeable presence?
- Is it in any way comparable to the Polish working community in the UK?
- How are relations between Poles and Brits working in Poland?

Any responses would be fantastic, and very much appreciated.

What the hell is "polish working comunity" and what is the diffrence between ex-pat community?

British expats for the most part come here as heads of company. Are they noticeable- not like they were 10 years ago. Polish working community in U.K do labour jobs- British expats do white collar jobs. as for relations- i think they are ok- like any boss/employee relationship.

You need to meet ex-pats in person. Ask more questions to get an in-depth account as to the reality of how it really is in Poland. On here, all you,re going to get is individual opinions, lies and wisecracks. From the few replies I already detect the slight hint of bull5hit. True or false ?

the British working community in Poland,

Before the Recession in the UK,a Pole going to work abroad was always an immigrant no matter he/she is a European .
Before the recession in the UK, a British going to work in Poland was an expat no matter he/she is familiar with Polish language or culture.

It seems that things have changed and British companies are not sending loads of executives because they can find excellent managers or local top executives in Poland and save money.
So in my opinion the British communities in Poland are mostly composed with British relocating to Poland for love or relationships reasons and they tend to immerse and melt in Polish society without getting too much together like in the old days of the Honk Kong Gentlemen club or during the days of the Crown Colonial Empire .

Not really. There are a couple of bars in Warsaw which attract the British expats but that's about it. There's nothing like the Irish community's St Patrick's day ball or the Burns Society's Burns night dinner.

No, not even close. For a start it is far far smaller.

- How are relations between Poles and Brits working in Poland?

In the 16 years I have been here, I have never noticed any problems at work which could be attributed to British/Polish clashes.

are you serious? get the facts dude lots of polish doctors are in Uk not to mention engineers and scientists True. In Ireland, ALL the Poles I know are professionals (engineers, architects, IT specialists etc). The popular image of Poles here tends to be of a professional, not a tradesperson.
