Well, Seanus no reason to suffer so terribly in PL.I am sure you know the way to the airport.

Hey, he just pointed out the economical facts to oppose Grubas's question above "Are Brits in Poland scavengers? Just here in Poland for better life? The facts!!"

Besides I hope, your offer is valid both ways, also for those Poles who went to UK and other western countries and whine just about everything over there?

True! Paying all that is a choker but it is as it is. It just means that I have to work hard to cover those costs and live a decent life here. You didn't see flocks of Brits coming to Poland in the summer of 2004 for menial jobs. I came because I had heard good things about Poland and also because of gainful employment. Not to escape and then try and mould myself to a job which was taken largely for money and not for compatibility with who I am. Washing dishes is sth I do after work and not to earn my keep.

Seanus, I am sure you don't need me to tell you this but: you're informed, balanced, witty, erudite and clearly have the patience of a saint. You are therefore the very embodiment of heresy on this forum, and need to be punished. Beer's on me whenever you're in Poznan ;-)

Grubas - and your other pseudonyms: guy[s], have a word with yourselves and chill out. For what it's worth, my story:

16 years ago, I came to Poland and, yeah, whatever, I stole one of your women. 15 years later, she stole me back.

To samo życie ;-)

I've never been to Poznań so I might take you up on that :) Oh, we have a round culture in Britain. Yeah, it doesn't strike you as being a trait of a scavenger to buy drinks for other people ;)

I am cool bro.It is just that some of your countrymen really pis(s) me off with this "Poles this and Poles that" "sheet". And if they are in PL they are pretty much in the same shoes as Poles in GB.This Seanus dude acts like his on some mission to enlighten Poles but frankly I don't see why he would deserve any credit for making $$$ out of naive Poles(why would anybody pay for English classes in the internet era is beyond my imagination).Anyway, not my money and not my business so I am going to chill.
And btw Seanus dude you do "steal" jobs from Poles who are qualified to teach English (not that I am or want to).And don't tell me about the accent thing because English accent is simply ridiculous and extremally hard to understand, though I have to admit that spoken by English women sounds very sexy.Peace.

I hear you - and sadly I have to agree. U nas również są tępaki. But with Seanus I think you got the wrong guy - when he says stuff like that ('enlightening' - not even sure it was him, actually) he's taking the p!ss out of the very people you're talking about.

At least, that's how I see it. Right, Seanus?

Not on some mission, PP52, just doing my job. What, I should be a profiteer from war instead? No thanks! I don't steal any jobs. Many here are misteaching the language and I've worked with many Polish teachers. They don't have half the ability that I do to teach it correctly. There are many English accents but, being Scottish, why would I pay attention to that? I imitate accents to show them the level of variation that exists.

Taking the mickey out of who, alex? The stark reality is that I'm streets ahead of any Polish teacher when it comes to being an overall package.

I don't doubt it. But what I meant was, I somehow don't see you on some 'convert the heathen' trip. When I was DoS-ing in the 90s if anything like that popped up in our staffroom (and did, among the greener recruits) it got stamped out PDQ.

Yeah, you have to maintain standards to keep the respect levels high. Grubas is just second guessing how things are and is in at the deep end. If he really wants Polish students to come out with many incorrect examples of English then be my guest. However, I can guarantee that I teach correctly and not in a wrong way as I've seen a few Polish teachers teach when observing. I'm not stealing anything, I'm simply improving the level for many students.

The only thing were guilty of is stealing their women, and it was a forgone conclusion considering how many came to Britian. With regard to a few thousand Brits living in PL thats more than fair trade considering the opposite.

How many Brits do you think live in Poland? i would guess between 10,000 - 15,000.

This thread was only made out of anger because of a similar thread: Are Polish people scavengers? Just here (in UK) for Money? The facts!.

Stealing jobs and women? you guys are off your little rockers.

Jesus, I've never heard such utter shite on this thread.
I guess the standards of Polish Forums have dropped 90% since grubus the uneducated oaf started speaking without giving his head a good shake!

What is SO wrong with people demanding the government offices in Poland speak English?
The Chinese, the Turks, all speak English (a bit), so it would be helping out more than 1 country.

In England, the local council have 13 different translations of most important documents.
Whats wrong if people pay tax to Poland, expect a little cooperation?
One of my main reasons I live here, and pay UK taxes instead :)
F*ck the Polish government, F*ck zus, F*ck Wojewódzki Sąd Administracyjny, all a set of
wan**rs!

A better life, get real!

Absolutely, it's a free world. Again, given the sheer numbers, it was them that scavenged more. I've heard countless stories of Polish girls entering into relationships whilst already having one back home. That's just lame!

Brits in Poland? 8,000 tops I'd say. If you mean Brits as how Brits should be seen (England, Wales and Scotland), then around 7,500 would be my guess. I really can't see those types that can be found in Glasgow, the undesirables let's say, filling the back alleys of Warsaw and claiming benefits. They wouldn't get any. I've asked many Poles if I'd be entitled, just out of interest, and they all told me that I wouldn't get the full whack for sure. I've been working here for 6 years and getting sth from the state is a laborious chore.

Well, my dad was teaching in Poland and at least to that time, majority of Polish English teachers sucked. I've met quite a few of them and many times I had to explain to them what I'm saying so you're definitely wrong in that point.
To me, many of them are qualified on paper, that's it.

I think its quite amusing personally, the irony that Grab Ass actually lives in the US says it all really.

Hang on a minute Poland does regularly take a good bashing here its only fair that other countries (UK included) should too. Your angry initial reaction to this thread is what 100's of Poles have to deal with everyday from us and it hurts doesn't it?

Spot on, guesswho, it's still that way! They've asked me some of the most basic of questions and I thought they were joking. There is just no comparison and I really believe that a lot of guesswork goes on on their part. For example, with phrasal verbs. I've seen the tenses mistaught too. The numbers of times I've heard, 'oh, my teacher told me such and such' and I've had to reply, 'really?' in stunned disbelief. Many Polish teachers of English fear teaching the higher levels for fear of being exposed. I don't fear teaching the lower levels as I have had extensive experience. Scavenging? LOL

You are free to go England and get things done the English way.Is it that hard to understand?
I don't go to MVA and demand to speak Polish because thats how we do it in Poland.

I think it'd be quite a funny experiment. The bullsh!t spoken in Polish in most urzędy is amazing enough (and would lose a lot in translation) but I'd kinda like to see the results...

I agree with PP52 on this point though I would encourage the learning of English for clerks. However, they are stubborn old hags for the most part so good luck. This is Poland and we should insist on our rights to copies of documents in English. However, asking them to speak English when they were so heavily pressed by the Russians and ostracised is asking a bit much. They barely had English radio for so long.

Let's keep it on track. Scavenging means what, PP52?

Wait a second, it's about speaking English simply because it's the most popular language in the world.
Look what happens in the states, we have to (in many cases) learn Spanish because we have so many Mexicans here. I really don't mind it because Spanish is pretty useful when you travel a lot but who's speaking Polish except for Polish (few foreigners who live in Poland)?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Poles, it's just that I want us all to be more realistic about it.

when i was in poland only three weeks ago, i found the place to be progressive, some of the roads were not particulaly good, but the world economy takes its toll on eveyone. ther trouble with these forums unfortunately, they allow narrow minded dicks to have a say, which really amounts to **** if you want to be polite.

Guesswho, the second reality is that they are more stubborn than mules and will refuse to learn it so long as those stuffy old goats occupy those places. There is no getting away from that. This is Poland so we should speak Polish.

Grubas just needs to wake up and realise how out of touch he is. I actually have Polish family now and follow the affairs of the day here. He's not even in this continent, being fed snippets of how well LK is doing in government (despite his death back in April).

You are discussing about what grubas has written while it was an obviouse parody of threads like this:
