Are Central and Eastern European countries to blame for 160,000 Brits without jobs?

I saw this article(if you can call it article) in the dailymail.com. I know that I should not read it, but its what the jobless read in the pub. I disagree with the fact that there are 160000 more brits on the dole because of people coming in from central and eastern Europe. I just think its a new excuse.

I think all unemployed under 20 should be made join the army to give them some focus

Harry I agree with you , I feel a sense of shame for repeating what the mail posts. It is the media of the dole people.

Those damn tabloids, anything to sell. Those jobs the foreigners largely take the locals don't wanna do. If not central and eastern Europeans, Africans or Asians would be doing them.

For the most part I would say no.
Im guessing many of these jobs are jobs many people would not like to do (physical, dirty, etc).
And some people just cant find a job thats in their area of experience.

A tiny small percentage though... I would say its possible. Im mean thats 160,000.

Is that the total unemployment rate in Britain?

No that's not the unemployment rate, its how many peolpe extra are on the dole because of non british people.

Oh before I forget, I'am kind of annoyed that UK and Ireland tagged together. British media does not reflect Irish opinion

Not because of non British but because or a recession. When the economy picks up businesses will hire more, people start small businesses it's not the governments fault. I even wrote on a different thread here in the US last month 340K jobs were created, mostly in the private sector. This happens every 20 years or so and last for several years, it will pass calm down.

Some split of opinion. From the mail.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2084536/UK-unemployment-Migran ts-NOT-keeping-Brits-work.html

Research from the National Institute of Economic and Social Research has contradicted claims by anti-immigration campaigners that foreign workers are crowding the jobs market. Instead, the institute's study found that there was 'no association' between higher immigration and joblessness.
Researchers even suggested the opposite might be the case and immigration acts as an economic stimulus, pushing total employment levels higher and dole claimant numbers lower than they would otherwise have been.

That's what I'am trying to say. When things are going well, every country needs more worker's. It's only when things go south that they start to blame outside people.

The basic is that certain people decide to live on handouts.

Dont do it then. The Daily Mail is not that at all, many middle class read the Mail, it is the worst of the worst though in that it attempts to print what it thinks people with biases will want to read, it also subtely warps the mind if youre weak minded. As one of your compatriots once said "a paper never refused ink".

Yeah lets brain wash them with the ultimate method instead, then transform them into killers, what a stupid thing to say.

Have to go with ITU2 that they are wannabes. The middle class readers are outnumbered by unemployed and unskilled readers. Twice as many readers are over 65 than under 35. Probably still read it as they did when they were younger and it was a quality paper.
The proper papers are the Times/Telegraph for righties, and the Guardian/BBC for central lefties. Reuters is about the only newsfeed that stays neutral/un-opinionated.

Looks like Germany is dealing quite well with the recession. 'German unemployment fell to a 20-year low in December, bucking the trend of growing levels of joblessness in the eurozone. Unemployment fell to 6.8% from 6.9% in November -the lowest level ever witnessed in reunified Germany-, according to the German Federal Labour Agency.' http://www.eurotribune.eu/index.default.php/?p=22212&l=0&idioma=2

UK,Sweden and Ireland opened their borders to the new accession states citizens.

Germany didnt.

Ireland and the UK are experiencing record levels of unemployment.

Germany is experiencing record levels of employment.

Join the dots.

I agree. It was very racist of the Germans to keep their borders shut to the Polish upon them joining the EU!!

Are the borders not now open, but the Pole's have decided against it as the Germans thought they would get a cheaper source of labour. The Polish people are not that thick, they will do the same job better for the same money.

Last May, yeah. Seven years later.

They have half the unemployment rate than Ireland and the UK.

Smart boyos.

I'll agree with that. Germans are ok with immigrants only when they need them, and even then want them to assimilate as fast as possible. Still nationalistic and racist.

And what are you? You are same to the other races of the world ... dont throw stones before you make sure you are free of that feeling. First remove racism from your heart again all races, and then be a staunch supporter of racial harmony. Yes we Poles have always been discriminated against, and we must not forget it to be able to uphold the cause of justice for every race in the world.
