Just wanted to let you all know about a free monthly magazine for Poles produced here in the North East of England. Thought some of you here on Polish Forums might like a read. Most of the articles in magazine are produced in Polish and English.

2B magazine is run entirely by volunteers and distributed for free; it's a not for profit magazine. There's pdf copies available online. If you'd like to read our most recent edition the link's below:

2b.nepco.org.uk/assets/issues/47_kolor.pdf

This month's magazine contains an article I wrote about the WW2 Polish resettlement camp in this region (again, maybe of interest to some on this site).

We've archived all past editions of 2B magazine at: 2b.nepco.org.uk

Best Wishes,
Rachel

no mention of either, but divvint worry. i'll spend some time reading it at the weekend.

RachelClements,

i want to know about the first generation of Poles to settle in the north east as i believe most of the Jewish folk in the area originated from Poland.

i want info on the bridges over the tyne.

and after a conversation in another thread... i want a comparison between Newcastle and Gdansk shipyards.

how do Poles deal with the Geordie language ?

can i write something for the mag... i can tell u about some of the changes over the years. or a how it used to be type article.

Here you go:
We were writing about "signin hinnies" in 41st issue of the magazine (page 9). Available on website :D.

We were writing about struggle of Polish people with Geordie in various articles in the last 4 years, for example: "Lassie, wrrr, czyli być kobietą", p. 13, issue 42, and "Porażka rodzi sukces", p.8-9, issue 41.

Very interesting series of articles about second language aquisition "language without limits" says quite a lot about learning:
- Borat tells porkies, p.23 in 2B issue 43
- Beware of false friends, p 17 in 2B issue 44
-The Language zoo, p.5 in 2B issue 45
and many more in Polish only issues before April 2010.
Enjoy!
PS: You can read about stotties in 42nd issue of the magazine.

Poles produced here in the North East of England.

Who in their right mind moves to the North East of England?

how do Poles deal with the Geordie language ?

Same as the rest of us they don't understand f*cking thing!

i want info on the bridges over the tyne.

What are you planning?

i want a comparison between Newcastle and Gdansk shipyards.

They both went bust and closed down.

can i write something for the mag...

..smacks of desperation. It is an obscure publication produced for a minority in Geordie land where the average reading age is about 12 years old and the Polish community specializes in plucking chickens....

a how it used to be type article.

Well, it used to be sh!t in Poland and not much has changed, a bit like the North East of England. Bang there is your similarity.
