Hello my friends,

I am Alex 29 from Stratford, London. I have Romanian citizenship I recently bought a little Opel Corsa Dti from 2002, of course with polish plates. It was my fault that I did not interested how can I manage the insurance for the car before I bought it.
Any possibility to keep the car with Polish plates and make a Polish Insurance for it? Can somebody help? I accept any other options.
Thank you!

You need to register it with a UK insurance company. I doubt you can insure it in Poland

I have a good Polish friend. Can he makes me a Polish Insurance. I heard that in Poland they insure the car not the person. Is it true?

Yes, we insure car not the driver but an owner must have address in Poland.

In all likelihood, the previous owner has de-registered his ownership of the car. Without a PESEL or Meldunek in Poland, the car is now not officially registered to anyone in PL, and for every day that you have not paid the tax on the transaction, you are receiving a daily fine from the Polish tax office.

With that in mind, any attempt to bring the car back to Poland to get it registered will become a massive headache for you, since you will need a Meldunek and PESEL to get it registered, and it needs to be registered to be insured.

Next time, do your homework, and good luck next time the police stop you.

Here's one, scrap it and buy one with the steering wheel on the correct side.

1st off read this to register the car in the UK and take out the appropriate insurance http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/Importin gAndExportingAVehicle/DG_4022583

Please do not try doing it on the sly because if you are involved in an accident its easier for all to sort out.Remeber that if some crashed in to one of your family members or worse killed one how would you feel if the person involved was not properly insured!Sell the car and buy a cheap car run about
