you

I've actually had the legal right to live and work in the UK for much longer, however, Æthelstan (the real King Æthelstan, an internationalist if ever there was one, would never have written such nonsense) in the case of the (rather old) post you replied to, you are jumping to conclusions. There are plenty of people in Poland with British citizenship, having fought for Britain in the war and plenty more Poles who settled legally in Britain during the PRL.

Johnny, from having spoken to Poles here in the UK, the vast majority said they saw no need to get a British passport.

The War Poles like the guy in the great escape played by charles bronson have every right to a British Passport and are completely integrated into British society. I was taking about the post 2004 polskis. Out of curiosity how did you leave communist Poland in 67?

They don't really need to nowadays - Polish citizens can live and work in Britain and vice-versa. The only advantage of a UK passport for Poles is if they want to visit the US wthout a visa.

I didn't - I'm originally from Britain but live now in Poland. There are tens of thousands of Brits there and that number is increasing faster than anyone can keep statistics. I was in M&S in Warsaw not long ago and realised that the only Poles there were the staff.

Though there are plenty of Poles who left around that time - some to join family, some were given visas to leave, some took holidays or went on business trips etc and didn't come back and a whole raft of people left in 68 due to political conflict. These were generally highly educated and skilled people who were snapped up by whatever country they settled in.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJvCcd5y-lI&feature=related, shameful. May I remind the Indians and Pakistanis in the video that they have their own countries called India and Pakistan. They are not properly British like I am for that very reason. Britain was nice enough to welcome them and allow their trades to flourish so they should extend the same privelege to newcomers. That's my take and I will not accept being called a racist. It's about fairness. The Indians and Pakistanis I came across were nice people who just got on with things and their presence was welcome as they served local communities.
