Many letters sent in Poland are lost in the system says NIK
Kasia Marcinkiewicz / WBJ Letters sent in Poland often arrive to their recipients late – or do not arrive at all – according to the Supreme Chamber of Control (NIK).
The Chamber looked at 50 Poczta Polska premises – including the General Management Office, IT Center, and 14 regional branches – in terms of availability and quality of services and financial flows. The audit covered the years 2006-2008.
According to NIK investigators, it is now harder than ever to get to the post offices, because their number is decreasing.
To work at an optimal level, there should be 8,200 postal offices around the country, however in the years 2006-2008 there were only 7,900 in operation.
“One in ten of them are not suitable for disabled people. There are also villages in which there is not one single Poczta Polska [office],” say NIK president Jacek Jezierski.

I understand that the NIK is now investigating whether the Pope is Catholic and after that they'll be looking at whether bears sh!t in the woods.
