Hello everyone.

I am trying to recruit a female member of staff between 30-40 yrs old for a job in my Wedding dress drycleaners in the UK and I am having difficulty.

Please could someone advice me how I go about doing this?

Kind regards

After reading some of the other threads I think I better explain why I am looking for a female member of staff.

1. Until recently I had a polish lady working for me. She was a fantastic worker and became more family than employee. She has now had to move back home to take care of her mum who is now a widow with a disability.

2. In my shop we do alot of wedding dress alterations and sometimes the bride to be would rather have a woman do the pinning than me a guy.

3. In the UK workers are protected with a minimum wage so no exploitation is possible.

4. I have a large number of polish customers so it would be nice to have a polish speaking member of staff.

Hope that clarifys that.

Try to advertise on Polish portals in the UK (PFs is rather an international portal). I don't know in which part of the UK you have your business, so I can't advise you specifically. If it's Scotland, emito.net could be useful.

Is this one of the deals where the Polish woman is tricked into Sex Slavery held at gun point?

Why does it have to be a Polish woman?

Why are you having difficulty?

what at a dry cleaners?? I don't have sex slavery on my dry cleaning price lists.....

Well I'd like a polish lady for the reasons stated above.
I'm not sure where to advertise for a polish lady.......

Figure out if there is Polish language newspaper or a bulletin around. Sticking an ad on the board in Polish church is always a good idea.

Not a critiscism .... bit of advice...... but you need to sort that website out mate.

A bad website is as bad as having no website.

Doesn't have to be expensive these days.

I'd hope and expect that it is illegal to advertise for a specific gender or nationality

Depends on context. Someone to help women in and out of their dresses and pin to adjust them could quite reasonably be expected to be another woman......well,thats what they told me when I applied for the Bra fitter job in Top Shop the other year.....
As to the "Polish",all he has to do is add the words "Polish language speaker prefered" and he's well within the law,its a "skill" not a "ethnic" thing that way :)
