Police have charged a woman after footage of a racist rant on board an east London tram was uploaded to YouTube.

34-year-old Emma West of New Addington, Croydon, has been charged of a racially aggravated public order offence in connection with the video. Ms West will appear before Croydon Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The footage (contains language which viewers may find disturbing) is said to have been filmed on the Croydon to Wimbledon Tramlink route and has now been viewed over two million times after it went viral on Monday. The name of the video, 'My Tram Experience', trended on twitter as thousands watched the clip on Monday night.

The video shows a woman, child in arms, complaining about the racial makeup of the UK. “What’s this country come to? A load of ****ing Polish,” she is heard to say. “Britain is nothing now, Britain is f*** all.”

The woman then goes on to offend several of the passengers on board who look on. One passenger reminds her that there are children on the tram to which she replies: “Yeah I’ve got a kid here.”

They are not wrong to do so, no. But have you not noticed just how quickly the police arrest people for these "opinion" crimes, yet left the rioters to do what they liked?

I think it's back to the numbers thing. East London is filled with immigrants so she might have felt this somewhat more acutely than those in posher parts. Still, it doesn't excuse her conduct. She should vent her spleen at her MP.

Shes completely off her head. I wish she was capable of arguing the point a little better, but i guess if she was a little smarter she wouldn't be shouting at people on a tram. More to the point smarter than abusing foreigners when its looks like they out number her about 9 - 1.

This polly is probably black.The tram was not filled with Poles if you notice.Otherwise the woman would be flattered.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that this was a faked rant anyway. Anyone shouting anti-black abuse on south London's public transport is putting their life at risk.

If genuine, she's obviously thick as two planks, but in a perverse way, she actually has a point. She may be wrong, but her rant has some basis in truth. Whenever I get on a bus in south London (it's only a few hours since I was last on one), I am always one of only a handful of whites on the bus - and 90% of the whites who get on are backpack-wearing, camo pants-clad "kurwa boys" and their skinny fake bling-wearing girlfriends. Likewise, I was in Morrisons in Hounslow the other day, and the only other white people were a young Polish-speaking couple, who were complaining about how they have been out of work for a few months and can't find anything else. The only person I heard with a true "English" accent was a rather attractive Indian mum :)

Of course you're going to upset people when you adopt a policy of bringing in as many non-citizens as possible to the country in clear contradiction to the will of the majority.

Note that the question of what levels (if any) of immigration from non-EU countries should be allowed has been completely taken away from the British public.

Intra EU migration is another question, though to be fair, it was also a decision made without consulting the British public.

The way she chose to express herself was repugnant (why be mad at people who are responding to a government invitation?) but British migrant policy for the last 15 years at least has been barking insane, against the will of the majority and adopted by all elites so that there's no real democratic alternative.

I think a large section of the British public has every right to be completely furious at the last several governments.

Have you been to England lately?

Over 1/3 of New York's residents are foreign born, another 1/3 are 2nd generation in America people just accept it. Although when a white American see's a Latino or an African immigrant he's less demanding they speak good English. I think it's expected more from European immigrants to learn English quick and Americanize. I'm guessing now but i think it's similar in the UK if all these newcomers integrated well into British society (spoke English well, acted and dressed like a Brit) they be accepted by far more people.

I think the real trouble is the number of immigrants who all too quickly fall into the habit of not working, not speaking English and cheating the benefit system. Those are habits exclusively for the natives, who utterly loathe any immigrant who does the same.

It's a simple case of double standards.

It is different in the States though, America is essentially a nation of immigrants. Its has always been that way there.

I think the British lady in the clip is essentialy ignorant however the reason for her outburst is that she feels immigration is affecting her financially. Shes angry that perhaps her partner cant find work, she herself cant find decent work and it is because of the immgrants to a certain extent.

Im not going to complain about immigration at all it's against my principles but its obvious to see why so many people are angry.

Nah i dont think so, there has been a lot of anger for a while now, most of it coming from the well to do families imo.

Also, she's probably an ethnic minority in that part of London. Poles can remember what it's like to be occupied by foreigners, it's something that Brits will have to get used to.

Felt! watch the clip - she was surrounded by them. Im in London quite a bit lately, there are large areas where its predominantly, black, asian etc.. Its a horrible place to live if you cant afford the nicer areas.

The clip in question is really getting some hits now, its had another million within the last 2 hours. It should be deleted, this is a death sentence for that lady.

I came here to the States from Poland but i've learned the language very well, dress act like an American have American friends (Polish too) date American girls. It's all about making an effort to fit it, show that you don't think you're better than the locals or don't like them.

If you are going to get in a fight like that DO IT WHEN YOUR POOR KID IS NOT IN YOUR ARMS!!

I felt so sad for that child being in the middle of that! What if one of them had a knife or goes crazy and starts beating? An innocent baby will be caught helplessly in the middle.

Exactly. What the media will never tell you is that a lot of non-white Britons are sick of mass immigration (even from the countries that they or their parents/grandparents came from), and a lot of former Polish immigrants and their descendants do not agree with mass immigration from Poland either! So it's not just the newly-discovered "white working class" (most of whom aren't actually "working", but I digress) who are getting angry.

During most of the past 15 years, we have been sold the lie that "immigration is good for the economy"; yet, after 15 years of uncontrolled immigration, the country has never been in a worse mess in living memory. Many of us realised it was a lie many years ago. Continuing to pack in 1/4 million extra people each year, at the same time as a thousand jobs are being lost each day, is madness. This is also why we have to pay more and more for less and less space, and why many of us are effectively being evicted from areas we grew up in, irrespective of race; the landlord's attitude is "if you can't pay the rent, I'll find six flatsharing foreigners who can", and if you can't/won't move away from your family take certain jobs, you are vilified as "lazy" in the press.

Nowhere else would tolerate this; allowing foreigners to settle permanently after a brief period of work (or even non-working), to jump the queue in social housing, pricing natives out of their own areas, etc. Some countries such as the Gulf states, Singapore etc., have policies which make sure it can't happen - once your contract's up, you're out! I would bet a month's wages that none of those four-to-a-room Polish flatsharers will be willing to live in those conditions until they retire, and they know it too.

Ultimately, it's the treacherous Government and their friends (landlords, estate agents, lawyers and similar assorted scum) who are ultimately responsible, so it's not really right to blame "the immigrant".

Even so, I'm sure that one of the Britain-hating expats will be along in a minute to tell me that I'm a racist/bigot/hypocrite etc. because I think it's wrong that thousands of foreigners should be allowed to "compete" for each job a British-born person could easily do, but I can take it.

WB, the child looked like he thought he had done something to make his mommy angry. Kids that age can't tell why people around them are angry so they think they caused it. It scares them and causes them a lot of anxiety.
