7.5 years ago then, before the Polish Invasion of 2004

My dad "invaded" this country long before that, and he was always legal, frajerze.

I had no problem with Poles here in the UK before the invasion of 2004, a few 10,000s was barely noticeable and they tended to integrate (especially the War Poles) into wider British society. But the sheer volume of low skilled immigration in such a short space of time was a mistake, it has kept wages from rising over the last 7 years in certain sectors such as construction and plumbing, it has put financial strain on British plumbers. builders, mechanics bricklayers, painter/decorators whose work Poles will do for half the money.

How would you feel if a million low-played working class Brits came to Poland in a matter of two years?

PS I don't hate Poles I just think the UK should have put up immigration quotas like all the other EU countries.

I live in uk,i have husband, who is not ligal in england. We get marry on monday(5th september 2011) he dont have work permision, nothing,we was waiting for decision about his legacy case.He was going every friday to police station,to singh, this friday homme office catch him, they arrest him,now they move him to some place,I dont know what i can do,im afraid that they can move him back to his country.please can someone help me?

He will be able to apply EU family permit when he gets back to his home country (him being an illegal here and being deported will not affect this), you should have done this in the first place - marrying an illegal immigrant does not make them legal, Im sure the same applies in your home country, so I dont know why you thought it would be different here?

My advice would be for you to go back to Poland and apply for it there, exercise your treat rights in your home country for 6 months with him as your spouse and then if you still want to come back to the UK then do so, but legal this time.

CAB office do not have legally trained staff - they wont really be able to help.

An immigration solicitor will take £1,000s off you and will only advise you to go down the same route I have.

It will be a long process (could take months) but if you are a genuine couple then you will see it as being worth the trouble.

Fair point, Jaroslaw Kaczynski would be beside himself if that happened, I can see him right now crying to the cameras about the plight of poor Poles and stolen jobs...

It's interesting that the two women who have posted on the thread are only concerned with helping out the OP and without any judgement. Well, I find it interesting...

It was you that was smuggling Poles to work on that gypsy slave camp, wasn't it? ;)

(did anyone ever see Poles as illegal immigrants, even if they were?)

Reminds me of Nazi rule in Poland. People were afraid of going out because Nazis organised regular łapankas - roundups.

That is why I am not going to go to England. I don`t want to be chased like some big game. I feel safe in Poland.

It's the age-old thing - until Poland joined the EU, was anyone particularly bothered about a 'white face' working in the UK?

Poles literally never crossed my mind before 2004. The only Pole I ever saw was before 2004 was Telegraph pole at the end of my street and the cool guy from the great escape.

A pity. Suitably mounted you would make a fine addition to my collection.

Tony Blair really f*cked over the British working classes by having an open door immigration policy and made a few large business owners rich.
