why do you shout and throw (question for english people)

hiya
well,just one more question i've got as i'm polish immigrant in uk and don't quite understand;
can any english people here on forum explain strange behave of shouting and throwing anything from cars at people walking on pavement (or sitting on bench near street/road)? it happened very often to me and few other friends when we were walking evening to work. because of this we've got to take bus to avoid walking in case we are hit with plastic bottle or cup of water or whatever?
well, i'm asking due to i heard a lot about politeness and good manners of english people but reality seems to look bit different.

These idiots are likely bored or on drugs. I'm not English but there may be Scottish people that do that. I can imagine it happening. I think it is likely because you are foreign but some locals get that treatment too.

What what? I know idiots in Scotland who would do that. They often throw ciggie butts out of the window and other things like paper. I can imagine Poles being targetted by them and other Brits. What finger pointing? I lived in Scotland for 23 years, pgtx, I know the mentality of some morons. I'm on home ground here. The English are not so different in that respect.

It takes on another dimesion when they throw plastic bottles. Although not designed to maim, they serve a symbolic purpose. You shouldn't take the bus just because of that.

I don't think there is a more logical reason than people that do things like that are morons and think that it is funny. I was once walking very early in the morning, a van drove past me quite quickly and threw an egg at me, it hurt like hell. I was in shock. There are some very dumb people in the world. Sorry I couldn't give better reasons.

Get the car registration number and report them to the police...or if you have a friend that can access the dvlc computer...find out where the car driver lives....and paint his car a different colour using a sharp stick...!

When we were kids, we used to throw soft fruit at people at bus stops, of course it's wrong, but when you're young, everyone does it at some point ;)

no i never soaked anyone and i wouldnt find it very funny if i was out and about and it happened to me. never really left home on smigus dyngus, boys waiting with buckets full of water out on the street, no thanks! i'm not a bore or a prude but i think this kinda thing is stupid and something chavvy kids would do...

as for mietek, yeah he sounds a bit like a troll with all his complaining but hey you know what us Poles are like :P

One day in Dubline we were at traffic lights waiting for the lights to change and a bunch of skangers pulled up beside us, the driver one of them lowered his window and spit a big filthy green one onto out window, we were furious but sure what can you do, the cops are idiots or are too busy trying to catch proper criminal (ie write parking tickets) and if you chase them they could have knifes or even guns...but y'know that Dublin where they have a special breed of scumbag....

sorry to hear this is happening to you, i think young lads especially in cities in uk and ireland have had it too easy from their folks, no manners have been taught to them, you wouldn't really find that kind of bolloxology outside the cities.

but try and get the reg plate number next time, but dont ever chase them, ya never know what they might have in their pockets

People in this country (like any other) sometimes do stupid things, only on sunday when i was out running did a few lads in a car think it would be funny to soak me to the skin by driving through the massive puddle they could have easily avoided. I don't knw what drives people to do things like that, maybe they are just looking for a laugh or wanting to spoil other people's day. As it was i was pleased of the cooling down the water allowed :)

However i totally understand that it can be annoying, whether its water, cups, packets or something worse thrown at you. I would not think its because your Polish (how could somebody tell) its more to do with the fact they are morons!!

I hope that what you describe is not normal! I am English and have many Polish friends and you should not be subjected to this kind of behaviour! If these idiots are indeed English; then I apologise for them. I am from another generation who stands up for ladies on buses and holds the door open for the next person. I also am an ex-serviceman who has had some tough situations to handle in my life so I am not a "softy" quite the opposite. However rise above these morons and look at the bigger picture. Good wishes for the future.
