Jazzboxx: You are free to have your religion. Why do you need someone in politics to "protect religious institutions"? Some people, like me, think that archaic supersitious organisations do far more evil than good for humanity. Free market capitalism (not that I am saying immoderate knee-jerk reactions are good either) has brought the world down to its knees. Some people who have had way too much power with money have literaly f*&ked the world economy up due to the specific ideology of "free market capitalism". The market is a beast and it needs a muzzle. I think its getting one... (you know anything about what happened in Iceland? Do you actually think?) Gun rights? lol I am sure you need the high powered assault weapons you can buy in the states, for err, umm... shooting deer? Please. Religious institutions do need protection. You are plain ignorant if you don't believe that. Not too long ago, Catholic hospitals were threatened with a bill that would force them to operate abortion clinics.
Also, just think down the road. We have the government dealing with marriage right now. What if gay marriage becomes legal in all states and the Catholic Church is forced to do homosexual "matrimonies". That is an abomination that we cannot allow.
Do not insult me by asking if I think. Free-market capitalism is not going to give us utopia. I never said that but it's certainly a hell of a lot better than letting the government control many business sectors. I do believe there should be a little bit of government control (as do most conservatives) but it certainly shouldn't be to the point that the government has to spoon feed every resident. There is a reason why we became the most powerful nation on earth.
As far as gun rights go, you need to back off on that one buddy. This is America, you can go to Europe if you don't like the idea of citizens having the right to bear arms. That is what our forefathers wrote in the f*ucking constitution. My house has been broken into three times before by Spanish-speaking foreign scumbags and I was able to protect my belongings and my mother thanks to my gun collection.
