International Marriage (Polish guy with an American girl). Polish citizenship for her?

Ok, I do apologize if such matter has been discussed before, I searched and I did not find.
I find myself in a situation when in a few months I might be getting married to an American girl (I am Polish myself). We plan to live for some time in Europe and eventually to move out to the US in a few years. There are a number of issues though. For example it will be rather troublesome for my wife-to-be to access a working permit in Europe. Could she get a Polish citizenship once getting married to me (in order to have a EU passport)? Could I also get a green card once married but living in Europe? Could our children, considering they would be born in the US get a Polish citizenship as well?
Please only serious responces and when you actually have something knowledgable to say.

Sorry to have to mention this, if you have not made up your mind a couple of months before the wedding are you sure she is the one for you?

Yes.

When entering the EU member state for the first time with your spouse, simply show your EU passport and marriage certificate at the airport or ferry port , upon entry. Within 3 months, register at your local Police station/Immigration centre. That's it, you're done.

No, spousal visa. Which cost a lot.

I think yes. My friend has a husband not from EU, and he's working. It's important to get polish citizenship during these 5 years, after that time it is harder. In first case you can try to get it from Wojewoda ( that's what I heard), after 5 years only from president.

As a Polish passport holder, your American wife will be allowed to work in Poland once she has completed the paperwork required. I don't think it will allow her to work in any other EU state.

I am not American and can't speak with any authority on what I have not been involved in or experienced. So maybe someone else can provide you with the information about green card.

She. Can. The situation was clarified in 2009 when the European Court of Justice decided the Metock case. All this is freely available on the internet. Like pulling teeth.

thanks for the replies guys, for some reason I always believed that all the paperwork would be kind of automatical and hassle-free once you tied the knot. I see it seems like I was wrong...

I lived there for a year (not in the city itself though). I might be crazy but I think it is an interesting place. But I agree it does have quite a lot of a run-down areas. :-)

i_love_detroit: I see it seems like I was wrong... Youre not. If you are married to an EU citizen, you have the same rights as your EU spouse when travelling/living/working within the EU. No visa required. Look up 2004/38/EC Article 13. I should be charging you a fee.

Ha, true. Thanks a lot, I hope there would be someone here who'd be knowledgable in the matters. Sometimes it is difficult to filter throught all the rubbish in the net.

That is good news, one more thing that is little bit unclear to me:
Quoting wikipedia "Family members are also covered by the right of free movement, but only as a dependent of the EEA citizen." Of course a spouse is included in the definition of a family member. However, what does "a dependent of the EEA citizen" means in parcite? Is it (s)he cannot be in an EEA state him/herself, or something else?

Also, I will have to find out what right does the Green Card give you (as oppose to the citizenship).

Cant help you with the spouse visa. Pay a visit to your nearest Polish community centre and ask them for advice. They will fill you in. Lawyer up too.

Spouse or family member. And no, you have to be present with your non EU spouse to enter an EU state under the directive.

But, I understand your future spouse is an American citizen. So she can visit any EU member state for 90 days visa free, regardless of the directive.
