not quite. We also enjoy life but yes we do work hard

Yes, you do enjoy life, but i see every day how hard Americans work.

That's funny, but today some American told me that 'We live to work'. :) A coincidence? :)

re you saying that Americans are lazy?

I certainly wouldn't say Americans as a whole are lazy. I own my own business and still work two side jobs to make sure I stay ahead. I decided to not take the route of business loans and instead I am funding the business by working myself like crazy. I will admit I picked up this work ethic from my friend Greg who is Polish. I have watched him work hard and seen him get ahead by working himself to death and making personal sacrifices to earn extra money. I think he respects me for my work ethic and know he would never consider me lazy...

As a Polish-American, I would say that Poles don't hate Americans.

Poles hate snobby bastards who think they're the best in the world, and that their country is the best, etc. Unfortunately, most Americans are like this.

Most Europeans dislike Americans because of their lifestyle.

I think it's a lifestyle a lot of Poles emulate. Poles are knee-deep, at least, into the silly " whatever you have I have better and got it for less" mentality. That said, I think most Poles really like Americans. However, Americans don't realize how open they (Americans) are and how it contrasts traditional Polish attitudes. This causes a bit of friction. Poles tend to be very reserved, while Americans tend to be anything but.

Germany is better...not as much violence, not as much crimes, not as much poor (even our poor live better than the US poor)....Germany is not as split into the very rich and the very poor than the US (not yet anyway).
Germany is more orderly!
We care for our sick and poor better...better and more rights for the workers (till now anyway)

I know America a bit (traveling) and I say it's a great country for holiday...but I as a German
prefer the more reserved (because more honest) attitude of the Germans...(but worst are the Italians...all that arm waving and screaming whilst talking...)

Your opinion of course.

Is it true that In Germany 57 percent of 18-to-29-year-olds say they consider the US more dangerous than the religious regime in Iran?

I found this article about Germany and anti-Americanism. Truth or..?

Oh my god Fisz, that article was hysterical! I needed a good laugh! :D

But.....Bush is a little bit dangerous, don't you think? hehe *how much longer before he's gone?*
*goes to put another X on the calendar*
The article reminded me of what we Americans have been saying on this forum for a long time......that most of the opinions of us and our culture come from "brief snapshots" that come from the media, a vacation, or our government's latest goof. Rarely is the daily life of America presented via these venues. America is a vast, diversified country, so unless you have lived in all parts of it.....comparisons end up sounding like something from the poem about the blind men and the elephant! *sigh*

Anti-Americanism is a trademark of the left/liberal...and since the 68'er students revolutions West Germany is firmly a leftist country...that's changing though (and the Eastern part never was that leftist/anti-american to begin with for obvious reasons)!

hahaha....that's gonna be a big shock to Wisconsin dairy farmer, the Alaskan fishermen, the folks that work on Wall Street, the Texas rodeo circuit, and the Hollywood celebs!

One American lifestyle....who knew? *makes big eyes*

No, it is not the best country in the world. The bad think that Americans still think they are. The reason: most Americans do not travel abroad and they know very little about politics. e

But if you think about it...what's best in one person's eyes may not be so great in another's. Good thing we don't all want the same things, huh? Maybe the basics are the same......nah, I take that back......I don't think everyone could even agree on what the basics are! :)

I would like an isolated cabin in the mountains somewhere so I could be a hermit.
No politics, no pollution, no loud music from a passing car's subwoofers, maybe a little snow and some good chocolate. Hmmmmm, looks like I'm going to Switzerland! :D

I don't think that we are the best by far. I really don't like beign a southerner let alone living in America sometimes. And learning politics is a matter of chose. I know a lot of American who love politics. Me on the other hand I hate, but I know some.

I do love Germany too. I use to live there. I remember when I was 4 I could walk from pre-school to my babysitters house and have no worries. And it was nice to live on a farm. I had my first crush in Germany, and I had great friends.

I have known quite a few immigrants to the U.S. With rare exception, they are pleased to be in the U.S. They work hard, save their money and demand their children get a good education. It doesn't matter if they're Polish, Iranian or whatever.

The illegal immigrant is the problem.

I hear a lot of my fellow Americans who have never traveled beyond Mexico proudly and with authority say "America is the best country in the world"
But I brought my family here from Poland and all I do is work here, 7a.m. to 7 p.m. I have money but never see my family at least in Poland I didn't have to work all the time and I could hang out with my kids and drink Zywiec with my friends. We are seriously thinking about moving back to Poland. My dear Polish wife thinks America is very beautiful but other than that not so great.

Are those 12 hour work days your idea or a requirement of the job? It's your choice. Cut down on your working hours, then you'll have less money and more time for friends, etc. Find another job. Or, if America isn't working out for you, go back to Poland.

Z_Darius thanks for that Bill Maher clip!

They are necessary for us to survive right now I work 2 jobs, its really my fault, I am a teacher. I got the same money in Poland but much more respect when I taught there. I am looking for a higher paying gig but the u.s. economy and soccer are bullsh*t.(watch the bill Maher clip before you jump on me about football(soccer).
