Why no Polish stuff in Chicago?

Chicago has the biggest Polish population besides Poland, right? So how come u don't see any Polish tv or don't hear any Polish radio? Chicago also has a huge Mexican population and they have like 4 tv channels and like 5 radio stations. 107.9, 105.1, etc. So my question is why is it cuz the mexicans have more money or is it cuz the Polish don't have the means or know how or what? Just wondering

I don't know where you haven't been looking but there is polish stores, delis, shops, companies, all over the northwest side and southwest side. Polski Radio in Chicago is 1030am.

Well that's good then I knew there was some stores but didn't know of any channels. I'll have to check that out. I was in a polish deli Mundelein, IL once and the lady started talkin to me in polish. LOL she said u look polish I said well Poliish American.

There are Polish Program on TV, I think you haven't been reading Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Tines lately. They have TV Guides and you have to look up for Polish, it is now on channel s 26 or 48. They keep on changing all the time. I think I saw Polish program on channels 23. Check your TV Guides and you can record it. Sometime they have after midnight. It is worth watching Polsh People do dancing for Christmas holidays. It is so beautiful.

Cuz I use to live in Illinois and I always wondered that. No not to many polish in KY just toothless banjo playin retards. Just kidding there are alot of polish in northern Wisconsin tho can't remeber the area tho, but the tomestones every name ends with ski.

Oh, there are Polish Museum right on Milwaukee Ave. and Augusta Blvd. near Kennedy expressway. You can look up for anythings you need to know. There are Polish Theater right on Milwaukee and Lawrence Ave. Near there is Polish Bakery and restaurants along on Milwaukee Ave. and others on Lawrence Ave. down to Austin Ave.

Last night I was checking what's on TV. I went to Channel 26-6 Digital TV and they did have Polish program on Friday night. Tonight I will check it out. I think you won't be able to get it on Cable. If you order Polish Cable, you can watch it every day . Check it out.

Not in the least. There's Univision (channel 66), Telemundo (channel 44), and TeleFutura (channel 60). I know WGN 9 and WTTW 11 both have a Spanish version now too (on channels 9.2 and 11.4, respectively). That's 5 right there. And even 26.6, home to Polvision, often shows Spanish programs. I don't know how many radio stations there are, but I'd bet there are just as many.

You probably saw Polvision. It's on every night, not just Fridays, from 8-10 pm CST and again from midnight-2. And it is, in fact, on cable. On Comcast digital cable, it is on channel 248, if I'm not mistaken.

Well, I don't have cables right now because I am not home all the time. I hate to spend so much money for cable service. I prefer to save my money for food and medicines. Right now costs of living is soaring high.

Good things Polish people still keeping the businesses going. We Polish American do need Polish foods, groceries, theaters and music too. Also newspapers and night clubs too.

Just hanging in there, maybe economics will picking it up.

I know of a few Polish delis and restaurants in Chicago that have closed in the past two years. I don't know if it's part of the normal business cycle, the result of the economy, or the result of there being far fewer recent Polish immigrants in Chicagoland when compared to previous years. I talk to a few guys involved in the Polish beer distribution business in Chicago. They've said some interesting things based on their observations. These guys believe that the flow of immigrants back to Poland from the US has slowed, and perhaps stopped as a result of the worldwide recession. Additionally, they suspect that Poles are once again looking at the US as an option, forsaking Ireland, Wales and England. I found there comments interesting, to say the least.

Not totally; the "Red Apple" is just a block south of Belmont on Milwaukee and there are some stores in that area and south of there as well including a couple more restaurants.

Very slowly; lets hope the Poles hang in there. But as previously noted, lots of Poles live in the suburbs now. They have become or are becoming Americanized.
