ZIMMY:
Not totally; the "Red Apple" is just a block south of Belmont on Milwaukee and there are some stores in that area and south of there as well including a couple more restaurants.

I was at the czerowne jablusko about 2 months ago and it was just horrible, the other one by Devon seems to be better quality. Staropolska and the Polska apteka are still there.
Angelinas rest and Wallys supermarket moved out of there also, Its getting like the ghetto over there.

ZIMMY:
Very slowly; lets hope the Poles hang in there

Belmont/Central or by Harlem/Lawrence I think will be Polish forever:)
Theyve opened a few new clubs, rests and a huge supermarket. So not to worry:)

ZIMMY:
But as previously noted, lots of Poles live in the suburbs now. They have become or are becoming Americanized.

They have more money now, and can get away from the riff raff of the city.

Remember years ago when dozens of Polish guys would stand on the corner of Bel/Mil and wait for daily labor jobs?

If you drive past there now, its all Mexicans at least 100 of them everyday.

Its turning into Los Angeles over there....lol

I agree; the food is better managed at the Devon outlet.

I still miss "Orbit" restaurant (2800 north Milwaukee?)which closed some years back. Always preferred sitting at the counter and banter with the Polish waitresses.

South Archer Avenue has some excellent Polish Deli's and two awesome Polish Markets.
Gilmart (market) is located just west of PulAski and Bobak's is further west near Cicero.
Both have incredible butchered meats (last time I was there, Bobak's was selling fresh Polish sausage for $1.19 pound. You can also buy fresh made kraut and Herring right from the barrel.

Both stores have in-house food service, cafeteria style.
There are several Deli's among the storefronts as well.

That area along Archer has been historically Polish forever.

The Capitol club

No, haven't been there; too many young people ;)

If I'm out drinking I usually hang around Streeterville http://www.chicagotraveler.com/neighborhoods/streeterville-feature.htm or Old Town http://www.centerstagechicago.com/neighborhoods/old-town.html as both are close to my abode (I like to walk home not drive).

I'm a White Sox guy myself but I go to one Cubs game every year. In fact, I took my son to the first night game in Wrigley Field the Cubs actually played in 1988 (that was lucky as the first game they were actually to play was rained out and I had tickets for the next one).

Yea, I love walking but everything is no more than a $7-$8 dollar cab ride away if need be.

You were a few miles north and west of me. I do remember drinking at Ravenswood Pub once but I don't remember why.

I think he was asking about difference between polish hispanic tv and radio . Polish are working all day long , woman's and men's , their children are at school or day cares . We want to do something with ours lives not just seat at home and watch tv . HIspanic on the other hand , well 3-5 children's at least , house full family unemployed on link card , no wonder they are watching tv , the media invested they are good quality of people behind tv.

There are two (2) 'old Warsaw' restaurants.

The Polish Genalogical Society of America is in Chicago, on Milwaukee Avenue and Augusta, at the origanal Polish area of Chicago

Part of the reason is Polish more people will learn English than mexican people will. Working in their neighborhoods you realize how many of them can't function outside of their neighborhood. Where as in the Polish areas, even people true to their heritage still want to be able to communicate so they can get better jobs.

I wonder if this holds true in the U.K?
