Yea, one of the cops was hit over the head by a protesters sign, but he should have just laughed it off instead of arresting the scruffy protester. The person who defecated on the police car should have been given a medal. Unlike the tea party protests, this group of malcontents emit smells that are both physically and spiritually toxic. Some of you current supporters will be embarrassed by their actions unless you are an anarchist.

(I've been to 4 Tea Party gatherings and the people there actually picked up their garbage and left the premises in better looking condition then when they arrived. The garbage left by the protesters, including feces, is unbelievable)

If you’re speaking from experience then I presume you’ve been to both. Impossible if you ask me, that "Tax, tax, tax the rich" slogan they are chanting is in conflict with your TPM interests, so how can that be? Do I detect not so friendly competition here? Those in favor of getting the country out of the financial mess by taxing the "rich" verses those that would rather do it on the backs of the "poor"? I've been to 4 Tea Party rallies because I wanted to check them out (2 in Chicago and 2 downstate). Everyone was courteous with the exception of one liberal interloper who was attempting to create a stir. He was ushered out!


There is no competition. The many vagrants on Wall Street are turning off the independent voters and the difference between the two groups is like day-and-night. Tea Party people are almost boring compared to the violence strewn 'occupiers of Wall Street'. No real Tea Party people had to be arrested (the person showing the Hitler sign who was swearing turned out to be a Obama supporter and not a Tea Party member). Quite a contrast to the arrests made on Wall Street. Let the Wall Street protesters continue to embarrass themselves to the rest of America.

This attempt at 'class warfare' is so phoney that I'm surprised that you buy into it. Just a hint; most of the so-called 99% don't agree with the protesters message (such as it is) nor with the mangy gatherings of these protesters. Let's see if they are out during the winter months.

I have to laugh at the naive messages of the protesters. They hate "Wall Street" yet Obama's chief of staff and his whole economic team is from "Wall Street". He also received more funding from "Wall Street" then his Republican opponent. Are these protesters aware of that? What a joke....

They are aware of this and that is, in part, why they are taking this action. Wall Street has both parties in its back pocket.

It's so awesome, man!!! The world is getting involved. We are having a demonstration here. This movement could very well change the world and I hope it does. Time to end the cozy relationship between government and corporations once and for all! It is dragging the world down. We need for both parties, government and industry, to acknowledge the need for responsibility and stop with the lame excuses already. They need to adopt a "it can be done" attitude. They can be a power for great good or for great evil, depending on what they choose. They need to realize just how much they influence destiny and quit playing with people's lives.

Industry needs to suck it up and quit whining about regulation. Did you know people come from all over to America just so they can start their own businesses and hopefully, one day, become affluent. You never see these hard working immigrants ***** and moan about regulation. Hell no, these people are tough and their attitude is they will do ANYTHING to succeed. Americans need to adopt this attitude as well. Quit whining and making up excuses about how tough it is working with regulations WAH WAH WAH and do what it takes to succeed. With this attitude, American industry could be on top again. But as long as the whiners keep dragging us down NOTHING will be accomplished and things will only get WORSE.
The new motto needs to be "STFU AND DO IT ANYWAY!!!"

The Occupy Wall Street protests are long overdue. Although the recession is officially over, most Americans -- the 99 percenters -- are still living with diminishing incomes, rising healthcare costs, and a social safety net in complete tatters. And yet Wall Street is flush with cash, its CEOs awarded with ever-increasing bonuses, even as it divests from Main Street.

Part of the problem is that President Obama has never clearly articulated a culprit for the Great Recession. But most Americans know where the blame lies. They correctly view Wall Street as a gambling den where derivatives, mortgage-backed securities, collaterized debt obligations, and other toxic assets were sold to investors as sound financial products with AAA-ratings from the likes of Moodys, etc. When the house of cards collapsed, Wall Street was bailed out by US taxpayers. An obscenity if there ever was one.

Although most Americans support the general theme of the protesters, you wouldn't know it from the mainstream media coverage of Occupy Wall Street, which has largely ignored events in New York and other US cities. Of course, it comes as no surprise that much of our news is controlled by powerful corporations with close ties to Wall Street...

AND even closer ties to government.

It's always amusing how often Americans use the word "socialism", which just illustrates how little they know about it.

socialism is not evil- it is only portrayed as such. And if you look to your roads, bridges, libraries,parks, fire department, police, border security, subways and public transit, armed forces etc etc- you will find they are all part of America and have been for quite some time- funny that they are perfect examples of socialism at its best.

I would agree with you americans just don't understand the meaning of the word socialism, in the same sense many Poles under the age of 35, just don't understand the meaning of the word communism in its true sense.



As a north American this is the point you fail there is a big difference between socialism ( Poland pre 89) and socialistic ( Denmark , Sweden, The Netherlands and so on)

In Poland 10% of the voting population voted against the church being involved in politics, now that is a big deal, in response to your question, I believe that we should live in a society where we are all accountable irrespective of who we know. Although I fear it will never happen.

The Scandinavian countries are model, socialist democracies, Wedle. No Western country can legitimately knock them.

Besides, mindset is key. Many Hungarians fared better under communism than under capitalism. Many older Poles also found socialism more for them.

How exactly have Sweden, France, Holland, Denmark and Norway failed? Clearly a 100% socialist system would never work- but aspects of it will. Not one person in the U.S has recommended becoming 100% socialist- they want aspects of it. what is wrong with having a safety net? what is wrong with paying taxes towards health care. It works in Canada- and don't dare say otherwise because I know for a fact it works. What is wrong with paying taxes towards a health care system instead of having drug companies and insurance companies manipulate dr.'s and hospitals and patients?
do you know that in the private health care clinics in Poland that you will be prescribed a minimum of 3 drugs- two of them will be unnecessary- like something to calm nerves and something to help you relax. The drug companies have infiltrated already- didn't take long.
people don't want to take money from the rich- they want them to pay their fair share--at this moment they are not. those who don't want socialist aspects in the u.s. system are those that have the money to advertise against it and they also have the most to lose. drug companies, insurance companies, oil companies, banks. why are banks private? money is for sale- but the lenders came out flying while the people that took mortgages are suffering. it is pathetic. why is it in Canada- a country that has the gov't regulate the banking system, barely felt a ripple when this whole housing/mortgage crisis happened?

In theory, yes.
In reality - you better speak to the locals of the scandi countries. Very few people are satisfied in hindsight with the socialistic policy.

What's really annoying is the movement is being compared to the hippies of the sixties. Why must there be comparisons? I wouldn't compare the movement to anything but itself. It's people demanding that government be "for the people" by "we the people."

They have been doing their best, Fox News, to discredit the entire movement. All I can say to the protesters is hold on and don't give up. If enough people join the movement they will have no choice but to listen and acknowledge.
