Well, first off it's American polaks or polish person. Pole is never used in America as pole has too many different connotations in the English language. Too many jokes can come from "pole".

I have never heard the American media refer to Polish Americans as "American polaks". Honest to God.... NEVER. Where do you come of with this nonsense? I could only guess they did that back in the hey day of media bashing of Poles in the 60's and 70's along with their Hollywood/media "Polack jokes".

When they talked about the Polish people at the recent Adamek-Grant fight they called the Polish people "Polish people" basically. When they talk about Martha Stewart they refer to her as a "Polish American".

What bubble do you live in? I have no idea what you're talking about at times. You must live on the streets or something for you to keep using this street language about "polaks" or "Pollacks" in America. Or that anti-Polish jokes come from the word "pole". The degrading 60's and 70's media jokes against Poles came from the word "Polack" not "Poles" from what family members and friends have told me.

Even elements of the American media today that have little sympathy for Polish people don't call Polish people "Polaks" or "Polacks".

I would say 99% of the time American newspapers refer to Polish Americans AS "Polish Americans". They refer to Polish people in Poland as "Poles" and of course the term "Polish people" can be used to describe people of Polish ancestry in any country.

Even elements of the American media today that have little sympathy for Polish people don't call Polish people "Polaks" or "Polacks".

Well, thanks, I kind of translated an polish expression - and secondly, it should be american polak or American Polack, eventually Pollack.

You are right, there are three groups actually - Poles in America, Poles in Poland and Polish Americans!

Common stop lie to yourself...

USA is the most segregated country in the world. White hating black, blacks hating whites, whites hating jews in the south, then italians polish mexicans english puerto ricans etc etc hating each other.

So what does american really mean? it's just a word but in reality its all about your roots.

So what? does it mean that the americans suddenly love each other?

Here is a little hint.

In May 1991, the Census Bureau reported that 57% of American families could not afford a median-priced home in the area in which they lived. This percentage disproportionately affects both African Americans and Hispanics who make-up 75% of these families. The discriminatory housing practices of federal and state governments, coupled with the tremendous rise in housing costs, have resulted in whites, blacks, Hispanics, and other minorities being increasingly isolated from each other. The 1990 census shows that 30% of African Americans live in neighborhoods which are 90% or more black, while the remaining percentage of African Americans still live in predominantly black areas. In fact, 62% of African Americans live in areas that are at least 60% black. As for the Hispanic population, 40% live in communities that are 60% or more Hispanic. While 86% of suburban whites, on the other hand, live in communities that are less than 1% black

Yep.. yep.. there's no racism whatsoever in Poland , right?? Neo Nazi? I just read an article about them.

You have no minorities in which to speak of.. have fun on your frickin' soap box, dude. When will a black guy be president of Poland? PM of England?

P.S. Your little snippet of the article only really proves that birds of feather flock together. What a revelation!! You are a jag off on here getting your jollies on ripping the US constantly. Pathetic really.

I never claimed that Poland dosen't have it's problems, and yes the article was about a Neo Nazi that turned into a jew after discovering his jewish roots.

Well shouldn't a country be run by it's own blood?

Hmm.. strange thought you knew so much about the US. Actually, Blacks comprise roughly 12% of the American population. And no, the country should be run by the best candidate for the job. He was the best candidate.

Nationality, citizenship, origin, identity... name it what you want. :-)

Everybody should call himself how he feels in this situation, no matter what others(organizations, government etc.) may have in mind.

What is f.e. Lucas Podolski? O.K., he's not American/American pole but I think the example in general is not too bad.

...and you never will. Chicago P is smoking crack. The term used in the media is Polish Americans and that is the only term you'll ever see. The word Polack is considered derogatory, sort of like the N word and the media will never use it. Ironically, it's become a derogatory term because of Polish American's complaints over the use of the word Polack.
