I met my girlfriend in the USA my senior year of highschool when we were 17. She was a foreign exchange student for the school year and had a student visa. She stayed for 10 months and returned to Poland well before her visa expired.

Now we are both 18. She is still in school, and has this year and one more year of highschool left before she graduates because she had to retake the year she spent in the USA. This means that she has definate obligations to return to Poland and finish her school. She has good grades and lives with her parents and will continue to do so for the next year also.

She wants to get a tourist visa to come see me and some other friends for the summer. I've been to Poland twice since she went home, now she wants to come here for 3 months and then return home. She has no intention of staying illegally and has already proven herself trustworthy by respecting her previous visa.

How likely is it that she will be issued a visa? Based on the information provided, what are the chances that the U.S. Consular in Krakow will rule in her favor?

Fairly good. But with that said consular staff are a law unto themselves.

Don't sweat it, tell her to stick the application in and if it is denied (which is unlikely), the two of you will spend this summer inter-railing round Europe.

Merged thread:
Chances of my polish girlfriend getting a USA tourist visa?

My girlfriend and I met when we were 17 years old. She was a foreign exchange student in my highschool and I was a senior in highschool. I graduated and she went back to Poland to finish her school. We are now 18 years old and because of the year in America she still has the rest of this year and then another year of school left.

She still lives in home with her parents and has very strong ties to her home, seeing as she is still dependent on them. She still has one year of school so in order to finish school she needs to return to poland. She is a really good student and she has already proven herself trustworthy by returning to Poland well before her first student visa expired. Her plans are to come and visit me, some friends, and her former host family. She wishes to stay for 3 months during the summer and then return in time to go back to school.

Based off of this information, what are the chances that the USA consular in Krakow will decide to issue her a 3 month tourist visa?

She must go and apply for the visa. She'll get it or no.

Where do you draw your conclusion from? Do you really think she's going to drop out of school 1 year before finishing to go work illegally on a farm in the US?

I already stated that she had a visa before and she returned 3 months before it expired. Don't you think some trust will have been built?

There is only one opinion which matters: the opinion of the consular official who interviews her.

The problem is, we're only 18 and she still has a year of highschool left for christ's sake. If her visa gets denied this will create serious problems. I've already been to Poland twice and it just costs a lot of money to keep going there... thousands. Like i said i'm a student in college and only 18.

Why don't you send her $140 (you know they are very poor over there, $140 is like 2 months average salary) so she can apply for a visa? And you will soon find out what her chances are.Cheaper than spending thousends to fly there and back.

Um actually her family is upper class in poland... and would be considered upper-middle class in America. Her dad OWNS an advertisement company which is large enough that it has American investors, and her mom has an important position in another world-wide company. If i had to guess... they're easily pulling 6 figures per year. They own 2 houses.

So lets not make assumptions here. I'm sure you're bitter and angry about something.

He's just a bitter Pole stuck in America, probably on welfare, who knows that there's no future for him there or anywhere.

Better to be on welfare in the US than work like a dog in PL.

Aw. All coming out now, isn't it?

Must be tough being on welfare as an immigrant - especially when people look at you and think "man, my taxes go to subsidise that dumb Polack".

Foreigners on benefit should be deported back to their home country. America is in big enough trouble as it is.

Agreed. Personally I think that the US consular should switch that guy and my girlfriend. She will at least have the decency to work when we apply for a fiance visa in a few years.

Speaking of which, by applying for a fiance visa and getting married, would she qualify for financial aid at a US college with a green card?

You know what you are pathetic. You make me so angry, because it is people like you that are the exact reason why Poland still doesn't have a visa waiver. And because of people like you that I have to be in this position that could affect the rest of my life. Do you think I want the decision of whether or not I get to see the girl I'm in love with up to a cranky U.S. consular? Way to go jerk off. I hope you get deported.

Why would she since mommy and daddy are so rich?I don't think Americans can afford to sponsor foraigners who never worked even 5 minutes here and never paid any taxes.
