jjkranz  Mar 21, 08, 12:25    #8
No I am from Milwaukee and go to Chicago frequently enough. I asked in all the polish liquor stores and bars around there and still couldn't get a good answer. I dont think its imported at all.

I don't know about this but my wife and I make the most amazing Wi¶niówka Wódka

Here's what you need...

For 500ml of spirytus You need:
1 kg cherries
250 grams sugar
piece of cinnamon (not powder)
half stick of vanilla
5 clove seeds
and 5 cardamom seeds.

...and here's what to do...

Firstly you need to wash and remove the stones from the cherries. Put the cherries into a bottle, add sugar & spices then cover with spirytus. stick a rubber bung into the bottle and stir.....(rotate bottle so liquid swirls round bottle).... Store in a cool place out of the light and you must stir once per week for at least six months. That is you pick up the bottle and make a circular motion with it. Then invite friends round to sample.

The spyritus needs to cover the cherries and it helps flavour if you leave the stones in half a dozen cherries.

Also once you have drunk the Vodka the cherries can be used for cooking.

Its impossible to find Wyborowa for me too. So frustrating :/

I live in Southern Cali and so far after a year and a half of both of us searching, we've only found it in Europe. Am I missing something? You say this question is getting old but when you search and search and THATS all you find, it THATS what gets real old REAL fast.

Anyway, help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The distillery was bought by the large booze organization Pernod. They stopped importing it to the US a few years ago when they had their own just getting off the ground Vodka they were pushing and didn't want it in the way. According to one of my old Eastern European bartenders there are some liquor stores in Queens, NY in the Polish neighborhoods that find a way to get it back to the US, but I was never able to find it. Until parent Company decides to start bringing it back Stateside, it is going to be next to impossible to get your hands on.

I am with everyone else who has posted a longing for Wyborowa. Why such a superb vodka should have disappeared from our shores, one can only imagine. Doesn't make sense to me. If anyone has a connection with anyone else who has a line to 100 proof Wyborowa, please contact me at justhink@verizon.net. Or telephone me at 540-371-8000. My name is Jim Evans.

i live in arizona and this is my favorite vodka ever and boy have i had my fair share of vodka. the only way i can get it is if i buy it across the boarder in mexico... it has its seal of shipping and everything on it so i assume its genuine so why should i be weary of getting it in mexico.

ive asked every specialty liquor store that touts they will ship any liquor but none have even herd of the stuff.

I called a store called Jon's Market in LA and they have it...they just won't ship to to Northern CA. :-(

Ok I have never had it at all, but this is making me want it, as if it were the forbidden fruit. I am going to try the LCBO since Ontario is closest to me...well Quebec is but if there is anything that is worse than the French, it is French Canadiens! Except for the fact that they brought us Hockey, god love them for that.

When I was in US, I couldn`t buy Wyborowa, either. One day it occured to me I need to look for Veebarova. Bingo!!

I still remember those posters with a Polish peasant ploughing the field and the slogan: Veeborova - traditional Polish vodka from pure grain or sth like that.
