What are the prices in Poland for things like Beer, whisky, vodka etc ?
And same goes for eating out in restaurants ?
Obviously I know that the prices will vary according to product and type of establishment but I am just looking for general price comparisons to England.

Cheers

It depends where. In the main market in Karków It can be even 10PLN but in normal pubs usually 5-6PLN for 0,5l.

I guess its better to stick to the local beers then :-)

When you say large and small, is this in litres, or pints ?

I do not drink alcohol now but when I was in Poland, as a rule of thumb, a bottle of beer in a supermarket would cost about fifty pence. I believe that the quality of beer has improved somewhat now but the Czechs were always the masters of beer production. Some Polish beers can have quite a high alcohol content now too.

24-hour petrol stations are a little pricier, I vaguely remember.

It always seems strange to me. We always talk of the evils of drinking and driving and then you can go to a British Shell petrol station in Poland and have a fantastic choice of beer to drink! I have always said that the Polish mentality borders on the crazy. They never show an once of common sense.

Taste wise, as good as, if not better than import. Though if you drink to much you can get bloated from the gas. The beer is stronger, about 4 .5 % i think so 4 is usually enough to get me going. But unfortunately, it is normally by the 6th that i reaslise it and then it is all too lare.
And Red Bull and vodka is popular, along with other energy drinks for mixing with vodka.

don't drink the imported. It's more expensive and PL beer is great on tap.

Here's a few:

Zywiec- 5.5%
Tyskie- 5.6%
Lech premium- 5.2%
Zubr-6%
Okocim- 5.6%
Ok Palone-5.5%
Zywiec Porter-9.5% (prob. not in a pub)
Lech Mocne- 6.2%

It's pretty popular. I was drinking these in Blue Note. There was a redbull promo going on too.

Yes....if you want to call it that :) Compared to some "mass produced" beers, it's a little stronger.
