for the same reason people haven't stopped using email just because of an occasional unwanted message they may receive

I`m gald that that I didnt give PF my real email address when I joined

it doesn't go to your email, it's a message box that stays on PF, look at the top of the page, you'll see a line that says Private messages (0)

no it isn't from your email, I 've just gone to another forum I belong to, I have a new message there, it doesn't show the senders email, only their forum name, when I reply, it just shows my forum name, it doesn't disclose my email address, as it doesn't involve email

not if you use the new feature, it would just say Sledz, no email. It can be useful, the message I've just received on the other forum has some serious information in it, which is useful to me personally, but I don't wish for the sender to have my personal details, email etc

You asked 10 questions, but instead you could take a minute to read and understand how PM really works.. PM will never reveal your email address or any other contact information (unless you personally include it in your message). PM is not being monitored by anyone - but you may report spam or any other message by clicking on the "Report" link.

Technically, if I was to go through thousands of files directly in the database, I could probably dig it out. The same as an employee of hotmail.com/yahoo.com/gmail.com etc. But I don't have time and pleasure to do that.. Besides, if you delete a message, it's automatically deleted from database too.

The "Report" link is to use when reporting spam or other unpleasant messages.

"sledz" complained about his privacy so now he won't won't be able to receive PM messages to protect from privacy intruders.

Sledz came around to it when he understood, he tried it out on me and sent some messages, so I'm not sure he's going to be happy with admin for taking the fascility away from him now

His last post in this thread suggested he was still unhappy so I took time to address his concerns.
