please do tell me how match was...
maybe europeans are more educated than americans, but i.e. my girl is chemical technician, and history was toughest for her and her classmates.why the hell she needs to know who won at Borodino, and which generals commanded that battle?
today she doesn't need history at all.
so in some cases american system is better to create experts on particular areas.
back to football...
beckham is a great star, but he'll need team to cooperate,he's a team player.he will serve his purpose if his teammates will understand him...i heard donovan was jelaous about fact that beckham is coming.
i just don't understand why football isn't popular in states, when so many people play it?and i'm surprised on a level of quality of american footballers,it should be higher.it's not representative for such a big country.

I watched Beckham 4 times in internationals.
In two of those games he actively lost the game for his team (penalty shootout), in one he didn't help in any way (yes they lost again)...only in the last WC he shot a goal for Team England (the last game after England could pack their bags).

I say Beckham is way overrated and you shouldn't expect to much of him...

There are several in the german team nobody knows about because they play in the Bundesliga only but who are better players than Beckham!

I think a big factor is that there isn't a lot of scoring. Most Americans are big into maximizing every freakin' second of their lives, so see watching the beauty of the game played out before them as a waste of their time. Attention spans here are getting shorter and shorter. There is also SO much competition for their entertainment dollars in the sports venue that it leaves no time for a new sport such as soccer. I'm bored with American sports other than American football, which I love, and I played soccer in school and afterwards, so I have a natural affinity for it. My wife didn't enjoy watching soccer at all until the 1994 World Cup, when I finally got her to sit down and watch some games.

I agree. He's old, too. I still hope he brings great interest to the game in America, though.

As an American, my exposure to this is severely limited. Where can a guy go to find out what's going on with it, and keep up with it?

Not unless the Russian team all defect before the Israel game.

Thank you!
I do not see England listed among the teams scheduled in the 21 matches being played on 11/17 - why is that? Is this the last round of qualifying matches?
It looks to me like Poland is almost a sure thing to qualify - is this accurate?

England do not have a qualifying game on Saturday - they will be playing a friendly against Austria instead.

England's last qualifying game is against Croatia on the following Wednesday.

A Poland win against Belgium will see them qualify for the Euro Championships for the first time ever !

Rakky - most teams have two games left in that group. England have only one left. If Russia beat Israel on 11/17 they are as good as through since their last game is against the weakest side in the group. If Russia do not win in Israel England will go through if they beat Croatia in their last game. Croatia have as good as qualified already.

Poland should go through. One win out of the last two games should do it.

As Szarlotka has already said, its not in England's hands at the moment. If Israel can beat or draw with Russia, then we have a chance. No disrespect to Croatia but, they have all but qualified and, they probably won't put out their strongest team at Wembley. They are a hard team to beat, but we stand a chance of beating them, at home, with so much at stake.

If England don't get through, and Scotland and France do, then I would like to see those two, plus Poland and Croatia reach the the semi finals.

Sad fact is there is a reasonable chance that the 'home nations' and Eire will not have a single representative at the finals.

Massive game for Scotland on Saturday ( 17th ). Got to beat the Italians.
The Scottish press are hyping it up big style - always a bad sign !

With a 17:00 kickoff, whatever happens my head is going to hurt on Sunday morning.

No if Russia win they will qualify as they've only got the tiddlers left in their last group game . If Russia lose or draw England can qualify if they beat Croatia in their last game.

no,we have two matches, for us is enough to play draw with macedonia.but we will devastate them, since they claim they fear of debacle at home.as for wembley...don't count we won't play to win,or put the strongest team.Franz Beckenbauer said he would put his money on Croatia.it wouldn't be wise to underrate us again, that's why we played so ferocious against england in first place.oh yes,and we didn't want to ruin our home record-NEVER LOST A GAME AT HOME since 1992.that means 30 official games at home undefeated.

thank you,i hope england and scotland best.israel lost only to croatia at home, they haven't been defeated at home for some time.poland is already qualified if you ask me.

thank you.croatian football association officially dates from 1992 so it means we hdon't know for home defeat.i guess it will be a national tragedy when someone beat us someday in home soil.and i hope our hooligans won't start rampaging.

of course,Poland is a great team.you have a great potential.being a big country 40 mil app. means more talented footballers.if you just kept Klose...
but fact is,Croatia has only 4 mil inhabitants.i think we are smallest country ever this high on fifa ranklist.

Good to see other people have given Scotland a chance of qualifying this is there biggest game in 10 years, just to qualify from this group would be probably Scotland’s biggest ever achievement on the international stage.

Like the guy before said what ever the result I will be suffering from a hangover on Sunday.
