Property inheritance in Poland - I like to know my rights

I have lived in Polen from age one to 10. My mother had married a man who came from poland and had several properties. He adopted me and gave me his name.
My Father died when I was 10 (1956) therefore my mother and I went back to Germany where me and my mother where born.
Since then we found out that we are now capable to take back our properties.. I visited in 2003 and found out that the properties had been managed by a Lady who my father had hired before he died..she had been working for him.when my mother and I lived we had no Idea.. the inheritance had been handed down to my mother, she too died in 2010..a lawyer I hired to look after this affair had been in communication with a lawyer in Polen, he said that the old women had sold the property and forged our name for selling the property, the money had been given we assume to her kids, the old lady died recently.. what can we do??
if anyone has any similar problems let me know.. I do think that this lawyer I hired had not played with the right cards.. I assume there is more to the story.. I like to know my rights.. the lawyer indicated to me that there is nothing I can do now..

what can we do?? I'd walk away if I were you. But if you really want - I can provide you with the contact details of a very trustworthy lawyer. But - in this case - it's going to be very expensive and difficult to prove anything.

I do think that this lawyer I hired had not played with the right cards.. I assume there is more to the story.. I like to know my rights.. the lawyer indicated to me that there is nothing I can do now.

I can also provide you with the details of a lawyer here in Warsaw, they are working on very similar case/story for a good friend of mine ( land not property)

I'd walk away if I were you.

If rybicki, has all of the documents in order, why walk away Delph, it will take time, as far as I understand about the Polish law the problem is the buyers, unless of course the property was sold and the money given to family members of rybicki's step- father with his consent.

That's the problem - I doubt that he has the documents in order. If he does, he should certainly go for it - but it would seem that it would be hideously complicated to deal with.

I think you can do something, but the first thing is to make sure that you have all the documents in order.

It's pretty straightforward, but not easy. There are cases of old owners of properties recovering them fairly frequently in Poland so it's definitely not impossible. You need a lawyer to check the deeds of the properties and on what basis they were managed and sold. They can then advise you what to do next. It won't be quick or particularly cheap and you definitely, definitely need a good lawyer. The fact that you were adopted makes no difference under Polish law.

If your properties are somewhere in the south of Poland (Silesia, Malopolska, Podkarpacie), I too can give you the name of a good (and trustworthy) German-speaking Polish lawyer who operates here.

It won't be quick or particularly cheap and you definitely, definitely need a good lawyer. Actually - Rybacki - if you want, I'll be happy to look over things for you if you wish? Not interested in payment, but the situation intrigues me - I'm happy to act as a "fresh pair of eyes" so to speak.
