Hi Montana,
Basically family history is done by tracing your family backwards in time through source records. By obtaining US records for your father, his siblings, & his parents, you will hopefully find the exact town in Europe where your family is from & your great, grandparents names. For an eample, your father's birth record may provide town of birth for his parents. Anyway, there are basic tutorials on tracing your family online, your library and/or bookstore will also have genealogical books. It's a good way to know what records will contain the information you are looking for & where to obtain those records.
Have you placed them on census records?
If you will provide birth year for your grandfather, wife's name & DOB & same for their children & where they lived, I'll be glad to look for some online records to get you started.
You can contact me by going to my profile, if you would like to do it that way.
