How conservative is that?

80% want it.

Divorce is seen as acceptable by 94%, but only for serious reasons like violence or infidelity.

In the UK, no reason is needed - so women leave their husbands for someone with higher earnings, take half their assets and get alimony too. A one-time payoff plus steady income from the ex, plus income from hubby 2 - and you get the kids.

Where did you get this information from? I don't see many people who actually marry anymore.. (Especially not the younger people!)

women ... take half their assets ... (of husbands.)

guessing 80% of adult people in uk are married, we can say about 40-50% of capitals in uk are owned by women? deed data not saying this. 90-95% of capitals are owned by men, not only in uk, but also in world.

How about doing your homework before you post something?

Marriages.

''In 2008, the provisional marriage rate for men was 21.8 men marrying per 1,000 unmarried men aged 16 and over, down from 22.4 in 2007. The provisional marriage rate for women in 2008 was 19.6 women marrying per 1,000 unmarried women aged 16 and over, down from 20.2 in 2007.''

;)

21.8 out of 1000 equals 2.2%.

arien, check the data for age group over 30.. younger than 30s are still thinking or searching what to do. and this even resulting in drug habits, etc.

I don't need to hear it from a Turkish person alright? I'm talking about the younger generation, which is basically the future. (European youth.) Although these figures already speak volumes, I'm not talking about the immigrants who marry, because ofcourse *they* do..

;)

Fair enough. Official statistics?

I don't know anyone from my wife's (Polish, country) family who co-habits outside of marriage. Everyone 30+ has married, settled down and had kids. Irrespective of education.

Of course, it's completely different with the people I work with in my Warsaw office.

Educated, unmarried and a touch sad.

a conservative newspaper? same tactics also here. they show the group as big as possible.. to scare especially girls away toward into the big group. it is like that, in turkey, they say 99% muslim.. they are not shy to say lie. all know it is less than 50%.

Well, in his opening post, Varsovian didn't mention anything about Poland.. (He did mention the UK though!)

sorry, I happen to read the article in Rzeczpospolita, which sparked creating this thread and he should have mentioned it. There was a study done on that particular group of people in Poland.

My wife is 28 with a civil wedding and no kids, LOL :)

Still, many are traditional here and would go for what the thread states.

Why should that have to be a laughing matter? You two should do it your way, just like other people should do it their way.

I just meant that it is in sharp contrast to the thread. Almost defiance on her part :)

So when do you think you'll be a dad if you had to make a prediction? (I predict I'll be a dad when I'm eighty-something!)

It looks like we have sth else in common then :)

It can't be long as I don't wanna be a middle-aged cronie when my kid is growing up.

In Poland Divorce Statistics these days are sad comparing to my parents generation (were divorce was not an option). But I want to believe that there are people out there that dream of a church wedding and 2 kids, because I am one of them.

Not interested in having a slightly larger family, your own little Seanus junior, who would grow up to be as well built as supposedly his dad is?

Oh, I am :) I've learned that patience is a virtue but timing is timing. She's been very supportive in many aspects of life here for money so I'll duly reciprocate. However, the moment must be closing in.
