Questions such as 'Can a gay Norwegian atheist be happy in a relationship with a Lutheran Pygmy hetero?' periodically crop up on PF. OK, so it was deliebrately absurd, but the basic principle remains sound: the more things people have in common the greater the chance of even mdoerate success.
Things are difficult enough in today's crazy mixed-up world even for a married couple of the same nationality, religion and social class and with similar hobbies and values to create a moderately successful, harmonious family, but ehen all kind of exotocism is thrown in....
And never forget the inlaws! Sure, occasionally you can have two mavericks tying the knot who have turned theri backs on their famileis and it's them agaisnt the world... But that is a rare exception. Usually one or both sides have retained some family ties which will impact both members of the marriage in one way or the other.
I nice saying I heard in Poland was: Najpierw pomyśl, to nic nie kosztuje!
