hey people, Is it always advisable to be friends for a while before being romantically involved?

I prefer getting the sex over with and then moving on to see if a relationship is possible.
Of course this surprises some women but then, I've learned over-and-again that women will do anything.

In my opinion it's pretty pointless to delay the inevitable, but ofcourse you can't demand or force anything. I'd say it differs from person to person, so you should talk, flirt and see what happens. Just go with the flow. :)

I think the relationship u talking about are the ones that actually do work out. but in most cases, it doesn't work out, there is always that risk of losing a friend. people change in relationships, hence they don't turn out to be the same guy or girl u knew as a friend. and when it does end badly, they end up hating each other. whereas, when u meet a person, become lovers and it ends, u do have that chance of remaining friends. thats what i think. I might be wrong though. what are u opinion ladies?

naw there's the danger that you'll leave it too long and you'll only remain friends, best to do the dirty as soon as possible and then worry about being friends, plus, you might be friends for ages and wait for the sex but what do ya do if the sex is crap, like, you cant remain in a relationship if ye dont compliment each other in the sack

If you're being serious then yes, get the friendship right first. Save the other stuff - if it's going to happen it will. You know what sex is like for men: as soon as it's over, interest wanes a little. How much nicer to turn round afterwards and find someone you actually like. Trust me, it's true.

relationships start off with a sort of friendship even if you're sleeping together. you still do things you would do with your friends such as going places or eating out, watching movies. a relationship is not going to last if you're not friends, sexual chemistry wears off pretty fast and once the novelty is gone and the lust is not so strong, what have you got left? if people claim they were friends before they started going out you can count on it that at least one of them fancied the other during that stage. i never stayed friends with past lovers (too weird) but i never built a relationship based on a long term friendship either.

i know a really sick joke about the difference between liking, loving and showing off if anyone is interested lol.

I agree with that, although to be honest i don't want to have sex with too many women before i find one that i can have a relationship with, i guess it just has to do with taste and good judgement.

Haven't you also found that a possible relationship has not been allowed to blossom due to the fact you ahve been friends for far to long and can't take that extra step. Either one of you has cold feet or your just a bit causious as if it does not work the great friendship could go down the pan.

Unfortunately i think this is probably the approach that will get you involved in a relationship, even if its not a good one, at least you don't get stuck in the 'friends' thing and would never find out if it would work out............

Well i've been away for a while due to the fact i've changed jobs, mynew job includes some funny hours, making posting on the forum difficult at times. I'm on a holiday now as its out of term time (yes i work in education) so can post again for a while.
