Gifts to bring with me, conversation topics, things not to say, etc. Anything in general.

BTW - I won't call them a menda :-)

It's as obvious as that. Check for the quantity of Tequila you can take with you to Poland without having to pay excessive duty (:

No need to take salt for Tequilla. There is plenty of it in Poland, from Polish Salt Mines.

Just relax. And ask your bf what his parents like and not like.

Save that for the bedroom. ;)

I know! That salt mine is amazing! Tomek said the place is rented out for parties and there are all types of events held there.

Don’t worry once they have Tequila you will be forgiven.

It's always good to let them know that you are interested in Polish traditions - like Wigilia - and planning to include at least some elements in your future home.

My nephew had a Scottish girlfriend ones and he invited her home for Wigilia. The gf came dressed in tee shirt and old jeans and said "oh, I'm not hungry, I just stopped on my way at MacDonald's". Well, she is history now!

It looks like her boyfriend (your nephew) wanted to finish the relationship..or he was so stupid not to discuss with her the Wigilia formality and exposed her to people..like you!

People in Poland would love you for your nice and such an open smile, that's for sure!
Just be yourself, that's what counts! Don't try to be a Polish....you have a time to learn things about the culture!

No, he didn't want to end the relationship. She knew perfectly well the significance of Wigilia but as she wasn't religious at all she chose to be disrespectful.

You look good together, there will always be people that will never understand that love runs more than skin deep but ignorance always seems to raise its ugly head...Keep you head up and dont let this bother you,(not that i know him hehe) but you have a good man there that will protect you from harm. I wish you well for the future and maybe a invite to the wedding i could go with a holiday with my partner..hehehe just kidding...take care..

As a moderator you should better than to name call people, please withdraw that comment, I have no problem with people of any race, the point being poles don't like colored people, thats a fact, just ask around. now please withdraw that nasty comment.

You come across really well, ekcampos. I hope it works out!

One more thing, please remember to check with Polish authorities regarding swine flu. I'm not implying anything, I hope, it's just that Polish authorities would like to be sure that you are not a carrier. I say this with knowledge of the complicated position between China and Japan 6.5 years ago.

I also married a Polak and we are going to Poland to visit his family. Polaks make wonderful husbands. I'm sure everyone will love you. I would recommend learning a little bit of Polish, they will get so excited that you are trying.

It's a beautiful country. This time I want to go when it's not winter!

Have fun!

nice I can make you laugh.... I'm not a racist but understand the point I was going to make, the poles don't like Germans, Russians, Ukraines, and Jews, add on Dark skin people, its a fact of life, not all poles but the majority. sorry no hard feelings but stating a point.

Good luck with your visit. From my experience the "in-laws" will probably try to feed you a lot and will often give you a second (or third) helping without asking. My advice: Bring some trousers with an elastic waistline.
