Dzień dobry

I did meet a Polish, she is great and good one.
I'm a (Syrian) Muslim and She is a Christian.
We don't have any problems and if we would talk about anything she listen to me
She know that I don't drink don't smoke and eat only Halal ( that was cool for her and her family ).

I tried to explain that i'm a good guy and i'm showing her how the good muslim is
I know maybe it's difficult to stop drinking alcohol because it's something from the Polish culture
I all need is advice to reduce that ( by the way she doesn't drink much but even though I don't want her to drink ).

Thank you guys

how about changing your ways to accept her - rather than her changing everything for you?

You said it yourself. She's a Christian and you're a Muslim. Why does she have to stop drinking if that's not part of her religion?

It's funny, Are you sure that you know everything in Bible ?
I know more than you know, i have read some of it!!!!

First:
1 Corinthians 5:11

biblehub.com/1_corinthians/5-11.htm

But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

I know more if you want just don't rush things, please !!!!
Your bible doesn't allow drinking for any christian

Galatians 5:19-21
1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)
19 [a]Moreover the works of the flesh are manifest, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, wantonness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, debate, emulations, wrath, contentions, seditions, heresies,
21 Envy, murders, drunkenness, gluttony, and such like, whereof I tell you before, as I also have told you before, that they which do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Footnotes:

Galatians 5:19 He setteth out that particularly, which he spake generally, reckoning up some chief effects of the flesh, and opposing them to the fruits of the Spirit, that no man may pretend ignorance.

Galacjan 5:19-21
Nowe Przymierze (NP)

Most Christian sects view drunkenness as a sin (which is what that verse is referring to). That does not mean you can't drink alcohol at all.

Nice attempt at trolling. Anyway, I'm out of here. I need to get to work. I'm not an unemployed bum collecting welfare.

And here you have to not drinking.
If you do not want to be convinced this is your business, but I did not get involved in the subject of religion

Ephesians 5
21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit,
18 Nie upijajcie się też winem, bo przy tym łatwo o nieprzyzwoitość, ale dbajcie o to, aby Duch mógł was stale napełniać.

By the way I work and I fast and pray.
Have a nice day

The bible forbids drunkenness, it does not forbid alcohol in moderation. Jesus' first miracle was turning water into wine, and at his last meal, wine was definitely served.

Is your young lady a social drinker -- wine with dinner, champagne toast at weddings, a drink or two at parites or does she have a drinking problem. The latter would mean she's an alcoholic and cannot live without drink. Do you require her to be a teetotaller at all times?

There are exceptions, but usually it's best for both spouses to have as much in common as possible for the marriage to succeed: same nationality and religion, similar priorities and interests, similar approach to child rearing, similar likes and dislikes, etc.

If differences do occur, then to succeed both sides must be extremely tolerant and empathic and have mastered the art of compromise.

what they're trying to say is, if your religion prohibits it, and hers does not (obviously, priests drink wine at mass. hell, Jesus turned water into wine and all that according to the bible) then why is it HER that needs to adjust?

Azzam,

For most Poles religion is just a kind of folklore. It's a tradition that we have but don't pay much attention to. Poles go to church but don't listen to what's being said there, not to mention reading bible.

So don't expect there to change because you found in the bible how a christian should behave.

I did meet a Polish, she is great and good one.

So why do you want here to change? And this is even the very beginning, so what will be next? Hijab? Closing her at home?

I tried to explain that i'm a good guy and i'm showing her how the good muslim is

Good guys give and don't ask for reward.

Thanks to your answer, yes she is just a social no more!

We agree each other and we do not have any problems

8 Wówczas powiedział: Teraz zaczerpnijcie i zanieście staroście wesela! I zanieśli.
9 Gdy starosta spróbował wody, która stała się winem - a nie wiedział, skąd się ono wzięło, gdyż wiedzieli o tym tylko posługujący, którzy jej zaczerpnęli - zawołał pana młodego

About the Miracle of making water to wine,
People were drunk because of drinking Their wine.
When people drank the wine of Jesus they woke up and asked him what is that ?

You know that drinking alcohol and become drunk does not feel the sense of taste.
But after drinking the wine of Jesus, he felt the difference ( got taste ) and this means that what jesus did wasn't a wine .... the wine of Jesus is not made of humans !!!

And I did not bring the texts of the Bible yours it from your Bible

So why do you want here to change? And this is even the very beginning, so what will be next? Hijab? Closing her at home?

She has to work!!!
the home is not my friend :)

even if it doesn't ,if she likes to drink let her drink ,it's not your job to make her a "good christian" or whatever you believe in,

And doubtless enjoyed themselves. Christianity does not forbid alcohol (or pork). No food or drink is forbidden. The book of Acts makes that very explicit.

the wine of Jesus is not made of humans !!!

It was made of grapes, like all wine.

In any case - there is no reason someone should give up something they like just because of their spouse's religion. If she asked you to give up salah, would you?

I think this the first time I more or less agree with you Pol. Although same nationality is not exactly necessary if the cultural background of both partners is not too far distanced from each other.

Our Arabian friend wants his partner-to-be to give up her background completely.

By the way I work and I fast and pray.

You want her to make to do the same?
By the way, could you and your buddy write in English please.

We don't have any problems and if we would talk about anything she listen to me

Meaning she has to forget her independent Polish nature and become like a submissive Muslim wife?

Azzam, Europe is a mockery of Christianity. Bible is against drinking. But why do you want a Polish girl instead of a Syrian Muslim one? There are many cultural differences that will not go away and will make you suffer both all your lives. Why don't you go for a Syrian wife who will be closer to your heart and soul and be more obedient? And what is the purpose of your stay in Poland? Are you going to go back to your homeland?

If she doesn't drink much then there's no problem, are jealous that she's allowed to drink and you are not? changing for a muslim woman would solve your problem.

I do not know why the Polish attack me here?

I don't really see anyone attacking you here. You're spreading false information and we're simply correcting you. It's clear that you value Islam a lot but try to keep that to yourself. Islam and Christianity are not the same religions. Christianity is based on the fulfillment of Jewish messianic prophecies.

By the way, not everyone here is Polish.

Azzam, Europe is a mockery of Christianity. Bible is against drinking.

Learn to read. The Bible says nothing about drinking alcohol being sinful. Being drunk and simply having a drink are two different things. Those churches that celebrate the Eucharist even give out wine.

I'm assuming the guy's wife is a Roman Catholic which even further proves my point. Drinking wine symbolizes the Blood of Christ which is very important in the RCC.

sorry ,we were just saluting each other ,it's nice to see a fellow in this forum

anyway i'm gonna sum it for you azzam .
you can't try to convince her not to drink ,even when using the verses from bible ,in syria there are even syrian muslims how are worshipers but drink from time to time although it is stated clearly in the quran that it's not allowed .

by your description ,she's not an alcoholic ,i think you can ask her not to drink in front of your family ,and that's it . you can't ask her to stop drinking ,especially if you're invited to someone's place and drink is served or in a club or party .

That's one thing I must admit; religions are good for keeping people from drinking, or helping them recover. But I must confess (to my own peril here), that I have a hard time trusting people that I never saw drinking. I think that's the best way to flush out a psychopath. ;)

Learn to read. The Bible says nothing about drinking alcohol being sinful.

Learn to know. That which you call wine today has a very different composition from wine at the time of Jesus. That had a very low percentage of alcohol just as to kill bacteria ever-present in ordinary water. Same goes for beer in Europe when the drinking water was contaminated with sewage.

Azzam, don't listen to those pervert drunkards who explain things according to their liking. As for the Polish girl, I think you should leave the light-minded and go your separate ways. A Syrian Muslim will suit you and your society better.

Learn to know

Wine was potent in the Iron Age, the Celts were considered uncivilised because they didn't dilute their wine with water like the Greeks and Romans.

Modern wine is much stronger (too high an alcohol content) than wine has traditionally been but that is a recent thing.

Most people in this thread aren't Polish.

It's funny, Are you sure that you know everything in Bible ?
I know more than you know, i have read some of it!!!!

What you've quoted are all Apostolic Letters, not the Gospels.
And anyway, even those fragments from Apostolic Letters that you've quoted don't forbid drinking alcohol. They just say people shouldn't drink and eat in excess (thus "drunkenness, gluttony" aren't OK).

The same is in Judaism, as far as I know, Jews can drink alcohol, but not in excess.
It seems Muslims are the only People of the Book who can't drink alcohol at all. Sorry :P ;)

What's your point? They still drank alcohol. The low alcohol content doesn't prove anything in your favor. We've already established that getting drunk is sinful.

Azzam, don't listen to those pervert drunkards who explain things according to their liking.

I actually rarely get drunk and when I do, it's accidental. I'm a moderate drinker. According to studies, moderate drinkers are healthier than those who don't drink at all. Science is a *****, huh?
