Whats not to understand? Do you think the above only goes on in Poland? Besides if they own the property and both names are on the deeds, she is entitled to half of the property..People become homeless all around the world, not just in Poland...Its not a cultural thing, neither is it nation specific...

They don't own the property the family has rights to rent it from the state. If they divorce the husband will get full rights to the property as she is in the UK. No security blanket if all fails in the UK and the children are out of a home... They do not give up the right to rent as it is handed down from one family member to another.

Land ownership is nation specific. Actually in England most English own the building but not the land. The land is leased. That's one way how the English perpetuate the class system. How Poland does land ownership can be very different from England, and considering they have a communist past probably means it isn't the same.

She managed to move to foreign country and find a home and a job, so surely such a resourceful woman could find another in her own country? As for the children being out of a home, its their father, he's not going to turf them out. So its just a bull excuse, she's hedging her bets and if it doesnt work out she gets to go back to the poor sap in Poland...

I was talking about homelessness and property ownership, not our class system or land ownership. Homelessness and home owning is not nation specific..please read my post again.

I am sure she moved to England because of family and friends, they all do. She is in the system in Poland and her polish residence is either a place she has been handed down through the family ( a parent or grandparent) and she has legal rights to this place as she is residing/registered there, she may also be claiming benefits in Poland. We are talking about a dysfunctional family in Poland, logic does not apply. Also if the daughter is at university as Trevness implies then she is still living with the father. It is not uncommon for a family to be separated and living together in Poland, it is all for financial reasons. You cannot apply British logic to Polish mentality otherwise you will send yourself crazy.

my God thank you for that - you are so right - that is what i have been doing wrong (and what has been driving me crazy!) ...

i also am involved in a complicated relationships where everyone has baggage and someone lied through their teeth quite a bit, so I can relate to the poster's predicament.

the thing he should remember is: Polish women very rarely, if ever, do anything that would jeopardise their financial/general security, and that of their children. They do, on the other hand, frequently do whatever is necessary to improve their position, in the quickest and most direct way to hand.

Po prostu, they do things differently to Brits, so if poster is a Brit, he should watch out ...

I didn't see your post. I did the same thing, posted about my falling in love with a Polish man and I am in a failed marriage myself. I am happy I posted, so that others could know my particular story, without my having to hijack someone else's post.

Any situation with children is complicated, especially if she does not have the means to support herself and them, but you are probably interested in what Polish people have to say. I am an American.
