Forgive her ignorance. There are many sheltered people around who haven't yet opened their eyes. Algerian or Tunisian Muslims are a completely different kettle of fish from the Taliban and their draconian ways. She is living in a cuckoo world of ignorance. First of all u need to understand that knowledge about Islam within the Polish sociaty is really on a basic level. There're many stereotypes mixed with fear and ignorance. People's opinion is usually based on TV programs, newspaper's articles and it's not necessarily best source of information. I'm not surprised that she's afraid of your religion coz after the September 11th it's rather comman thing for many people. Of course each case must be considered individually, I don't know u and her and how your everyday relation looks like but the truth is that every relationship requires compromise. But if two people come from such a different cultures it's even harder, coz none of u wants to leave its beliefs, and it's good. I know many couples like u, some of them are together successfully, others gave up. It's all about being enough mature to overcome obstacles and respect each other. I can just advise u to suggest her some books to read, the good one is The new voices of Islam. I'm glad she's searching for information about Islam, many Poles even don't try, and we've got numbers of "unhappy" women who are in love with Egyptian lovers. Just show her the basics of your faith, tell her about the different interpretations of Quran, because that's the main problem in islamic world. Usually people're afraid of unknown, and if something's unknown they treat it as something worse because it doesn't fit their standards.

Personally, I've not met a muslim that wants to change the West to Islamic Law. I've seen on tv whenever a bunch of mentalists gather together and they pick one to interview.

You really need to get out more and who knows, you might accidentally learn something.

Meet a muslim person, don't go with any agenda and ask them to tell you was their religion means to them.... He is very unlikely to kill for that (even less so) :)
