You both are in your forties and you are both white, that's enough to say that you have nothing to worry about, feel free to go to Poland, relax and forget about any danger.

Yes I am Polish in relationship with English woman. You are obviously not muslim so there is very little chance that parents will have anything against you marring their daughter.

This guy is clearly not English. Look at his use of words and it stands out a mile.

F#@K those guys Ian they are the typical know-it-all I know better then you poles.
I had a situation like yours when I was in England. Some poles over there were telling my wife that i couldn't take care of her like a polish man would.
I moved to Poland and never had problems with polish guys over here!
Just come to Poland and have fun.

Now for the others let the insults begin!

Ian, this is a two-way street, I've known English people extremely unhappy about the fact that their precious daughter was seeing an architect from Poland of all people. Why can't she find a decent English guy, they said.

You don't care, some people do, nothing to be worried about, just adapt and overcome.

Best of luck.

Hi Ian, I think the problem here is this: you are not English (or Scottish), or at least certainly did not grow up in any English speaking country, you lied to this poor lady that you are English, other people quite obviously see that you are a liar and told your girlfriend as such, she doesn't believe them because she evidently loves you or something, maybe you buy her things, and doesn't want anybody to see you.

Welcome to the kingdom of Polishisauraus Penisauraus. Neanderthal Man still exists here with the odd dinosaur, combined with a little low self esteem and paranoia.

Viola is spelt Wiola.

the "Angol"

Violetta is southern European, not Polish, and I bet he's one of those "eksotyczny" types, hence the problems.

violetta my polish girlfriend

I guess as an Englishman he doesn't know 'W' in Polish translates 'V' in English as I did'nt 7 years ago. Reading his post again, I see, as I saw the first time, it is not his problem, but he is showing concern for her and the abuse from her fellow countrymen. It's just a typical negative Polish reaction. A bit like asking a Pole how they are. Poles apart from asking the same question to an English person.

I'd guess he isn't. English is not his mother tongue.

I have yet to spot a Pole in this thread. Midas comes closest, but all the others are Anglophones.

I think Ant was refering to the posters question regarding why the Poles at his girlfriends place of work give her crap for going out with him.

I think it may be to do with the guys colour as he isn't white English.

Actually on second thought this Ian character might just be an English native speaker, just not that very intelligent or educated with terrible written English.

But I'll answer your question Ian, as you find this so puzzling. Do you really think the problem is "all polishmen have problem with polish girl having english boyfriend"? That male Poles are so protectionist of their womenfolk that they find it abhorrent that one of them would actually spend time with the native of the place where she lives and works? Doesn't that sound kind of silly? Now, don't you think the problem might be actually that the men from that factory have a problem with... you, specifically? Think about it, did you give any of them, or did you do anything to your girlfriend, that might give reason for someone not to like you? Yea, you remember that now don't you? Yup, that's probably it. Spill the beans, what did you do?

There is no such a thing as non white English, if you are not white you can be British at maximum.

Wow, you guys really are clueless... Ignoring the fact that your question is based on a generalisation I will try to answer it. There is a tendency amongst immigrants to "stick together" and become more protective of one another (or even jealous) more than they would be in their native country. I do not know how statistically correct the following statement will be, but here's my observation. Polish men in Poland can pick and choose from a crowd of beautiful, educated women. When they come to England they have to compete with men from England and other countries who very often find Polish women very attractive. From what I observed Polish women in England are more likely to find a partner from a different (than Poland) country than Polish men would. A lot of men come here purely to earn money, women tend to be more openminded (another generalisation). Maybe this idea is very feministic, but I think Polish women can be seen as the ones with more to offer than Polish men. Polish men in England can be less confident than men in Poland and when in group they can get protective over Polish women and tease or even bully them. They can look at women who choose to have a relationship with foreigner as if she betrayed her country. This is slightly exaggerated, but can happen. I think this stands for immigrants from many countries, you get people who are willing to "blend in" and try to get to know other cultures and you get people who can be very stuck up. You can get haters no matter where you go, tell your lady to grow some balls because there will always be someone who might object. Good luck.
