Respect, Appreciate -- what do you think?

Just want to know what you guys think... especially from a guy's perspective.

What does a guy actually mean when he say, "I know you like me...I respect your feelings... and I appreciate it"... after having known that a woman has feelings for him.

Is this a polite way of saying, "I know you like me, but I don't like you as much so.. back off?" or, is it something like, "I know you like me and I still don't know what my next move would be?!"... or simply, "I know you like me, and... i'm just being polite here."

Any thoughts? :)

hahaha! that's ok sky. i was just kidding anyway. i don't usually think like this. but i do like the idea that women are from the Outer Limits, that's funny but sounds scary. ;) anyway, things are more complicated than just saying women are from this and men are from that. there are women who are as just complicated and hard to figure out as some men are.

For Nymph: yes, i agree with sky and amathyst that it's his loss. anyway, life is beautiful and the person for you will come along. i admire your courage and honesty.

It depends on the personality, background, and thinking process of the individual. There is no such dictionary that can decode anything too specifically. However ... if its an English thing ... I guess the first option which the author of this post (you) have put is most applicable.

Because I've gotten a few PMs from her asking for advice and judging her style, her thouthfulness and her gentle and kind ways of thinking I can tell without a doubt he was the loser in the equation. I might be on touch with my feminine side :) but I'm still a dangler and can tell the guy was a loser.
