Sexual diseases! Please tell me how I go about getting tested in Poland?

Hi
I am working long term in Poland and I have had a few casual Polish girlfriends. I think it is time that I got checked for STDs. Could somebody please tell me how I go about getting tested, making an appointment etc. Information specific to Krakow would be really helpful thanks.

go get blood tests... you can do it in a private clinic...

Back home they speak English and I know the name of the hospitals and hospital departments. So do I go through a doctor, or direct to a hospital, or private clinic, what is the name of the dept,l which deals with the testing of STDs?

I'd suggest calling LuxMed, Medicover or any other private health service you've seen in Poland. Get through to the operator, ask for someone who speaks English, and tell them what you need. Be prepared to pay, but it'll be a better experience than anything the Polish health service (NFZ) can provide; with them you'll come out with more diseases than when you went in.

Yes, LuxMed (formely CM LIM) has two locations in Krakow, and I guess they could do such tests too. Just go to their website and call them. They have English speaking staff.

You do realise that condoms are not 100% effective at protecting against STDs, right??

For instance, STDs (ie herpes) are spread by skin to skin contact - condoms don't cover the whole cawk as the base of it can come into contact with the vag!

I think it's time for you to get "some brains." If i had to point out all the stupidity in your posts, i think i would develop a severe case of carpal tunnel syndrome.

You chose the life of a high risk individual ... not only that, you are a promiscuous person - moving from partner to partner, then perhaps will live with one and float again. Eventually "maybe" marry someone (who might just be equally promiscuous) for a couple of years and then produce an offspring (unlikely though) ... and take no responsibility.

Me being judgmental? ... Not really, its a survey report by WHO on high risk individuals in Europe, something I know from being good friends with a health professional having an MPH.

Find yourself a Polish girl who is a virgin , and who has been tested as not having any std....have sex with her , then send her to the clinic to be tested , it will be easy for her as she speaks the language....

If she tests clear , then no problem , but if she has a dose , then you will have to go to the clinic too....

There are probably more venereologists in Poland than there are "African immigrants", and the various billboard campaigns (not that you'd know about them, having deserted Poland) are aimed at normal Polish people. The health services don't have much money to spend, and they pay for all the ads aimed at Poles, because that is who goes to the clinics.

The original poster is being perfectly responsible in such activities, by looking for a place to get a regular medical check-up. There is no other course of action that would count more as being sexually responsible; as has been mentioned, condoms and other contraceptives do wholly protect against the transference of disease, and even if the poster agreed to a vow of abstinence or marriage (which are essentially the same thing) there are still ways for co-habiting adults to contract infections from the outside world (public toilets) and share them (bedsheets, baths etc.)

Advising ANY course of action as being better than regular medical tests with a qualified professional, when it comes to issues of health, is so downright naive, misinformed or idiotic as to be morally reprehensible.

ROTFL at post 5 :) Yeah. NFZ aren't your best bet. Going to a private clinic will give you more peace of mind. I know that feeling of waiting for those results.

It was not advising against medical institutions or personnel, it was advising in peventive measures, as is understood and accepted "Prevention is better than cure". No other prevention is better than being responsible in the ethical way. You have no idea of morality, so I'll not even discuss that with you. Keep bla bla-ing.

But having several sexual partners over the course of one's life is not. Believe it or not, but there are some people out there that - for whatever reason - have not been able to find the right person on the first try!

Compare other countries to Poland especially our neighbors to the east, we have to wide HIV/Aids epidemic or syphilis or gonorrhea etc. in general Poles are disease free.
