I met this local polish girl who is a foreign worker and we clicked well on line. Seems we were both in intellectualism (science and so on).

I was running a bit late and she completely flipped out when she met me, even though I texted her at the meeting time informing that I would be late when I was on the train and its not like I didn’t notify her.

She understood most of my communication, but it seemed she had trouble understanding my text message saying that I may be late by 10mins or so.

When she met me she flipped out and told me that she had no time for me.

I mean if you really like someone you would cut them some slack. I feel if the situation were reversed, I would’ve been more lenient especially with a notification. But then again, girls have always been known to be more picky than boys in general. Now we already knew what each other look like from online picture before the meeting.

Is this kinda reaction normal with polish girls or something going on there? A personality thing?

By the way, I’m not polish. Don’t know the culture/ polish girls.

Prefer good polish people to help me out here.

She probably thought you stood her up, and it made her anxious.

The girl is mental, any shrink would do in this case, not only a Polish one...

Was that your first meeting face to face? She didn't like what she saw so she used the first excuse to ditch you.

p.s.: the face to face meeting was like this. She smiled at me from a distance like with curiosity. Then bothered to shook and hand and said to me in my face with calm anger that I have no time for me and walked away.

Now does this definitively mean she didn’t like my look or hint at something else? She could’ve just walked away immediately if she didn’t like my look but she bothered to actually shook my hand? What this mean?

??

She's either crazy and thinks very highly of herself, or you looked different on the picture and wasn't what she expected in person.

Obviously she got scared for some reason. Why don't you ask her?

Generally speaking, yes, it is normal, because Polish women think they are superior and everyone has to bow before them. And this is particularly true when they go to a foreign country, where they lose their brain...If they ever had one..

hey chessymac, are you polish? i researched that polish etiquette that within 15mins late is ok. and anything after that is bad manner? do polish people take this very seriously? its not so strict for social in america, so i didn't know how polish viewed this. i wasn't trying to be a bad person.

No, you have to always be on time. 15 minutes early professionaly, atleast 5 socially.

The reason doesn't matter in this example, what matters is you two don't see eye to eye so any relationship would be unrewarding. Forget her, and seek somebody else. Young years fly by really fast, don't waste it with a dead end. If you just want to learn from this, learn that you are not always going to hit it off in person just because you had a good online message exchange. But most importantly, MOVE ON

No, this is called "the academic quarter" and is only related to students and some teachers as an excuse. A Polish gentleman needs to be present in advance, and the lady is allowed to be late up to 15 minutes because Polish women rule, and Polish gentlemen accept that. Just to give the OP some insight. (Still, I think it was her excuse, she simply did not like the looks of the OP).

My Wife HATES being late for an appointment. I mean seriously HATES it.

She blows a gasket ....Myself, I am a little mellower about such things and tend to accept that if the circumstances are out of our control then c'est la vie.

Many years ago, when my Wife and I were in the early thro's of our relationship I was flying in to Etiuda terminal in Warsaw. Now this terminal isn't like anything you will have experienced before...... (T2 was still being completed). Etiuda is a cattle shed.

The snow was appalling and they closed all but one runway. I was sat on some god awful cheap and chearful flight and we had to circle and wait for our turn to land. No means of contact as I was airborne. Of course I thought.....OK, she has the screens, she will be able to see I'm delayed and how long for, she is of course aware of the weather conditions, she will go back to the office, or find a cafe or such like in T1.

Eventually, 2 1/2 hours late we land, I grab my bag and I spring out of Etiuda as excited as newborn lamb.

Oh man, did i get it.....BOTH BARRELS.

My fault that Warsaw was experiencing horrendous Snow, my fault that they closed all but one runway......you get the idea.....

10 minutes later, I was turning around and trying to find to the ticket desk to buy a return flight.

I'm NEVER late.

Good thing is when they are already empty on the ammo, they cheer up and are the loveliest creatures in the World, right Ed?

Jola, I don't want to go personal but your profile vs. nickname needs updating, too ;-)

I concur.

It may be a cliche but.......

Happy marriage and 2 son's later and I swear I love her like the first day I laid eyes on her. I consider myself genuinely lucky I found the right one.

I begged her to go for coffee with me in Coffee Heaven on Nowy Swiat.

She agreed.....only if she could bring Tatko along....At the time I thought Tatko was her pet dog or something.

Daddy's Girl ;-)))))))))))))))))

Many young Polish girls like bringing their Daddies with them, true.

My Dad mystified me once when I was a kid. "W niedzielę popłyniemy z Tadkiem" (we will swim with Thaddy this Sunday).
He meant "statkiem" (we will go by ship this Sunday) ;-)

EdW, I live with three women ( wife, two daughters) we are always late by at least 15-30 mins, except on Sunday when we go to church, out of respect my wife cuts her lateness down to 10 mins. For years it would drive me mad, I was brought up on punctuality, my only way to live with the constant lateness, was to inform friends and family to expect us one hour late, therefore always informing my wife of a meet time, before others. This has worked well, we arrive early and if the host forgets the protocol, I can always look knowingly in their direction as we arrive fashionable late.

My wife is telling me she HATES the late comers because coming late indicates lack of respect towards the host. Especially, as the late comers have mobile phones and could announce their delay. Whoever does not show up at the party, having declared the presence, and will not announce the non-coming by phone, becomes an ENEMY to her ;))))

Just to let you know, warszawski ;)

Does this explain the Polish habit of just not turning up?
Is this down to long years of practice and realising there is less stress in just not going than going late ? ;)

As I have already said in my poor English, ones who do not turn up and have forgotten to call in advance, are deleted from the list of friends ;-)

It sounds to me like she doesn't want to go out. It's not easy dealing with reactions like this, people can be rude.
Sounds like she's not worth your time. Find someone who is.

That could be your clue: she only saw your picture online. Maybe she didn't like what she saw in person?
Maybe next time you should put a note in your profile that you are 5'4", or that you have a lisp, or that your picture is 10 years old?

According to PF Polish girls never have issues with that.
