Hi! My great great grandfather JAN RELEWICZ came to England in 1900 approx. Does anybody know this surname (or changes such as Relevitch) anywhere else? I believe he came from the Poznan area of Poland. Please leave a message if you know anything at all. Max.

In order to trace family in Poland, you need to know the town information & the hopefully the old province name. You hopefully can get this information by obtaining English records for him & his family. Hope this helps.

He came from a place called Zemsko Poznanski. I hope this is useful.

Hi Max,

Twenty years ago there was a boy in my examinationclass. His name was Peter Relewicz. He came to Holland with his younger brother and his parents from Canada. He lived at that time in Opperdoes a small village near Hoorn (where I still live and where the school was). The name of the school was Prisma Scholengemeenschap (S.G) but they put the schoolbuilding to the ground a few years ago. I am 37 years old right now so he must be around that age but Iremember him being 1 or 2 years older than me. After we left school I only saw him once in the train and never again .So I do'nt know where he is at the moment. I have tried to find him a couple of times on the internet but with no succes. So that's whyI found your page. I hope I have helped you a little with this information.

Good luck with your search (and if you find him, let me know)

Indeed, 88 of Poland's 122 Relewiczes hail from the Poznań area, apparently the name's ancestral stronghold.
