I am a writer, writing a novel, supported by the Scottish Arts Council, based on the experiences of a young Polish man who has come over recently to work near Inverness, in the Highlands. I would like to ask anyone who is a recent arrival from Poland:

1. what did you first notice about Scotland? In what way was it most different from poland?
2. do you miss Poland? what do you miss most?
3. what do you think of Scottish people?
4.have they always welcomed you, or have you felt unhappy with your treatment?

I would be so grateful for any help with this research, and promise to mention you in my acknowledgements. If you live near Inverness, I will buy you lunch!

The Scottish Arts Council are gonna pay you for this? They must have money to burn... or a serious social problem with the massive influx of Poles. I've heard that the Polish invasion is having its greatest resistance in Scotland...

I suggest you visit Poland, preferably in the depths of winter. Then maybe you'll understand a few things about Poles and Poland. Flights from Edinburgh will cost you about 2.5pence + three marbules, if you time it right.

(Sorry, not trying to be patronizing here; though I am everywhere else on this wonderful site!).
