Robert Kubica Crash

As most Polish people know, for some reason, Robert Kubica has always had his car slower than his German teammate Nick Heitfield. Not sure if that's true, but watching some races I tend to agree with them. In result, as some people say, Robert got tired of this bull-s-hit and in order to get himself a new car he found a smart way to get rid of the old one :) -- check the video.

Polak potrafi! ;)

Good luck Robert in your next race this week in Indianapolis, USA.

I thought that he died when I saw that for the first time.

It will be interesting to see how Robert will deal with that. There are two different opinions:

1. The crash will hinder Kubica from doing a career in F1 because from now on he'll be too careful when driving, which is not good in motorsports.

2. The crash will motivate Kubica even more and will make him a better driver.

I agree with the second opinion; Kubica is young enough to "forget" about the crash and go on. Besides, surviving such a big accident should make him think: "Well, I survived this crash with no injury so now I don't have to worry too much about other possible crashes and can take risk whenever I can."

Actually, Robert's team "friend" had a similar "show" a year ago -- in Indianapolis ;)

Well, so after the crash Heidfeld's been driving much much better this year so maybe that's the key to success in F1 then :).

Racing drivers accept the risks and are not affected by crashes. F1 is a very safe sport. Compare it to motorcycling, men will put up with massive risk simply for the enjoyment, never mind the money. In the Isle of Man TT for instance, there are deaths every year, one year seven died before breakfast. Fathers and sons go there and die. It doesn't stop them.
Having a crash you walk away from is nothing.

Racing drivers or not, they are human beings after all and we can never tell how can that sort of thing affect their mental state.... But I wish Kubica all the best, he seems to to recovering well and getting ready for the next race :)

I'm probably going to that race....I know my brother is going....he's a huge race fan (F1 and Indy Car, but not Nascar).

I saw that crash....it amazes me how they build those cars to desinegrate around the driver bringing only minimal injury to the driver.

I think if you look at it in the respect that they are considered athletes, you might see differently.....when a person excels in professional sports, it's usually because they have spent years preparing themselves....in order to succeed, they train themselves both mentally and physically....so even though they are human, they are human's with an edge having years of discipline and mental preparation....just my 2 cents.

If it's up to him, he will....he's waiting for clearance from the doctors.....there is a tentative late afternoon press conference arranged by his BMW team from the Speedway, in case he is not allowed and they have to announce a replacement.....I guess no news is good news for RK! :)

Well, as expected BMW promotes their own guys (now they have two German drivers in the driving team).

Sorry for the hundreds or thousands of Poles from Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana that have already bought tickets to see Kubica in F1.

Yes, from the first time drivers sit on a kart... well maybe in bigger cars, they know that it's a risky sport. You make a mistake and you can die. Being Kubica a young driver he was 10 when Ayrton Senna died. So he was probably driving for a few years when this happened. And I guess Senna was, like for many of us, a hero to Robert. So he knows what it's like.

Besides, I think he has fought a long way to be where he is now. He got his great chance when Villeneuve left the circuit and he won't let it go because of one crash, especially when he only got "a bruise" on his ankle. You know, here in Mexico I heard a commentator say Robert wasn't alone. They said he had Papa Jan Pawel II's emblem on his helmet or sth like that. I don't kow if this is true but they said he must have protected Kubica.

Anyway, if he had broken his legs badly and maybe a big concussion or something like that he might think about it twice. But I'm sure he's ok with that and he probably already forgot about it. I hope he will get better and better so everybody keeps an eye on him like they've done since Hungary last year.

Well it seems the crash has not affected him at all. He's driving great.
