This weekend Robert Kubica becomes first Polish driver to compete in F1 but having made it to F1 with little backing from his home country he says he can take or leave Polish support.I had to find the budget and the people in Poland werent interested and if im here without Polish support i can manage to stay longer without them. So whats the Polish view on him he sounds quiet bitter. Were u aware of him in the 1st place?

Sure, we know him well in Poland. He complained a little, though, that when he was a junior he didn't receive much support from the Polish officials (eg. he couldnt' find a sponsor and not everybody took him seriously when he said he was going to become F1 driver). But now he's got lots of fans - I'm sure there will be many Poles in Hungary to watch him this weekend. I feel he's going to be as popular as Adam Malysz .

He's already got the look of a great F1 driver, hasn't he.

It sounds SO Polish. There were so many talents and great lost to other countries because of a typical Polish stupidity or envy.

Kubica was awesome even as a backup...his first race he finished in good position as well but was unfortunately disqualfied as his car was 1 kg too light.....but this is very good for polish f1 enthusiasts!

I've heard Robert Kubica doesn't like Polish people too much anyway.

He certainly ran a great race today. A podium in his 3rd start is beyond what I would have expected. I noticed that F1 didn't seem as big as in many other european countries so maybe with
Kubica the interest will be alot higher.

How not? Last week he came to Warsaw only to meet his polish fans, there were photos autographs and so on. And he is always saying that polish fans who come to support him during the race always help him to perform better. He is disappointed with polish companies who didnt want to sponsor him in the early stages of his career though.

I think he's still quite young - I was about 25 years old when I first scored...

well it's difficult to shine if;
1you had a collision with your team mate at the first turn
2your mechanics keep you in the box for 15seconds instead of usuall 7-8 and still fail to spot damaged front wing
3you have to come to the box again to change a broken part
4you have problems with your gear box(third time in a row!)
5have problems with brakes
i don't want to accuse anyone but "accidently"it is always robert kubica's bolid which are always some problems with.
nick heifield's bolid is always perfectly maintained
